FI Q and JBL

Recommended Posts

I have a JBL 1200.1db amplifier and have been looking for subs to push with it. Should I get 1 12" FI Q sub? if so, any advice where I could look to get the best deal on one? or two....wouldn't think the amp could push two....

The amp could 'push' two. You would be splitting the wattage though. If you got a fully loaded Q that would be a good match. Maybe look in to a BL as well. Or an Icon.

Im not too crazy about BL and not familiar with Icon at all... so are you sayin 1 fully loaded 12" FI Q is the way to go?

how much room do you have to use and what are your plans sealed ported

a dual 12" ported bass slammer enclosure... 15.3 x 33.3 x 16.0 (height, width, depth)

could purchase a different enclosure if needed...

dont use a prefab box with any decent subs you should have a box custom built for a good sub and if that box is ported for two subs its way to small for q's

Okay, so what exactly are your goals. Loud bass? Rap music?

I PERSONALLY would go with a 15" BL. I used to have a 12" Q which I loved. If you go with either one of those two woofers, you won't be disappointed.

well 2-12's are gonna be the loudest but use the most room and cost the most a 15 will take up a lot of room and and be a little louder than a single 12 the single will use the least amount of room and cost the least it will not be as loud as the others but will still get loud. a recommended enclosure for as single 12 would be 14hx34wx14d with a port 12.5hx3wx33L after displacement comes out to just over 2cu tuned to 30hz a good box for a Q12

so do you think my JBL 1200.1db amplifier will push 1 15" FI Q sub to beat loud low and hard?

16hx48wx16d with a port 14.5hx4wx24.25l

It's all math. If you go on Fi's website they will give you the recommended box six and tuning frequency. JL audio's website has the formula for calculating port lengths. Or you can go on SSA's website and they have a box calculator.

No problem. Always glad to help out. Also, if you need anyone to build you a box, check out Fisher Customs and Pound That Sound on the forums. Both make EXCELLENT enclosures!

there really isnt even a comparison between the two...other than the fact that the same company makes them.

they are two different subs for two different purposes. q is an sq based woofer and the btl is an spl woofer....that one top of tons of internal differences that i cant even name...i just know there are.

I am looking for loud low and hard hitting bass.... would that be SPL or SQ?
