Idiot here poked a hole through the rubber surround.

Screwdriver slipped and I poked a medium sized hole in the rubber surrond. I have it plugged up with silicone right now, but I was wondering how much it would cost to fix if I shipped it back to you guys.

It's a 12" SSD.

But in all honesty if you dont mind the cosmetics and if the glue was done right it should last a long time. Saves $$$ if you can deal with it. Otherwise I can quote anyway just so you can compare options.

The only option they might have is the copper coils. I don't think I did anything else.

Yeah if it isn't horribly expensive I'll get you guys to fix them. I do like my Fi subs to look pretty, lol.

friend of mine had a re sx 12" and he had a tear in the surround and he put clear fingernail polish on it and it held up atleast until he got rid of it

not to thread steal but i was wondering how clear fingernail polish would help?

my brother got his friend to install his sub in the car because they were in a hurry and accidentally poked a hole in the rubber. he put silicon in it but said that it sounded different from what it did before. but yea i was also told about the fingernail polish thing. just wondering if it would help.

also i would like a quote on the rubber fix too for 40214. or how much it would be to buy new rubber and install it myself.

You won't be getting a rubber fix... (BTW the surround is made of foam)

You will get a re-cone kit, which will replace the cone, surround, voice coil, and spiders (aka the soft parts).

You will also need to know how to re-cone a subwoofer, unless you plan on sending the subs back to the manufacturer.

ooh ok.. sounds like it'd be pretty expensive then. I thought they could just replace the foam surrounding and the cone without messing with anything else.

It's not a 'rubber fix' it would be an entire drop in recone assembly. You would either have to ship the sub into us or we could send a recone kit out to you.

The standard SSD kit is $65, if you went with a flatwound coil it would be an additional $20,

If you went with a copper coil the recone kit would be $70

If you have the BP Power option the recone kit would be an additional $10

Plus shipping (if the kit is sent to you figure ~12-15 dollars depending on your loccation)

Otherwise the silicone should last fine, it just isn't going to be pretty. If money is an issue then I would probably leave it alone until it completely breaks...
