Can FI build this?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 honda Civic EX-L with premium sound upgrade and it has a IB setup with an 8" woofer and it needs some help. Now I know Fi has done IB 18 &15 but can yall build be a very efficeint IB 8"? to replace my current stock 8"?

thanks

P.S. I Pm'd scott already for pricing but I know how busy he is so I figured I'd ask here if its even possible..

thanks

Matt

Yes and no... we dont do 8s, but we have parts as we do OEM as well as the AA drivers with them. But, IBs need to have a decent amount of excursion and linearity to make up for their lack of enclosure reinforcement. 8s really dont meet the need for most applications. I have done IBs in the past (in similar applications) where I make a baffle that necks down from the stock 6X9, 8", 10"... to a 12" size from MDF and fiberglass (fleece, whatever). Gets you more output from the same stock location.

Then... we definitely can do an IB driver and will be adding some to the site in the next week or so (IB option to the SSDs as well as an IB specific new line).

Thanks,

Scott

I know right! it should be happening more often now, he posted that he has a new office manager so it will give him more time to email and be on the forums.

I cant wait to see what they come up with!

This is why I will always be a loyal customer of Scotts. He actually believes in customer service. I acually enjoy spending money with him, b/c I know I can count on him. :)

If this works out with the 8" IB direct bose replacement, externally amped of coarse. I may have a few people that would be interested in this for space savings and weight issues.

If successful is there a possibility of doing a short run of 10 or so of these? I bet I could get them sold if I hit the pavement hard. :) If not, no biggie, I can retrofit a purpose built SSD/IB 10 with little modifications. :)

no. subwoofer.

just got done talking to scott, and he wants to make a 10 or 12 that mounts from underneath via a baffle, he has to see what he can do though.

thats where we stand at the moment.

The 10" IMHO is the way to go. Much more output IB than an 8" and not much work involved. :)

well upon further inspection the trunk bars run right under the stock sub in the coupes so theres no underhung option like in the above pic (which is a sedan) or mounting anythin other than in the stock hole and the stock 8" size..guess im stuck....

Bro, no sweat, do some minor cutting with whatever you have and top mount it. A $15 set of shears would do the trick. Expand the opening to the desired size, deaden, then mount. There is, in most cases, some room between the trunk shelf and the rear deck board to deal with the driver excursion. It will take some work, but it can be done without too much modification. If I can find the pics of the one i did, I will post them up.
