I figured I would share.

I got it installed today. I am down a battery and some power. I had an additional YellowTop and a SS PCA2000D. I really can't tell too bad. Once I get the new battery and upgrade the power wire, I will give her the beat down and report back. :D

So I hooked up the multi Voltage meter and with the car running sit at 13.5V. I slowly rolled in the volume and it shot down pretty quick. It hit 11V and I turned it down. I am going to turn the gains down until I get a second battery back in there.

I have 0gauge from the front YT already as well as 0gauge big-3 and additional 0gauge grounds. I will be buying one tonight, I hope it gets here soon. :D The YT I do have is a few years old but holds at 12.3V without being hooked up and 13.5V while in the car. So I think I can get some more use out of it. I will def keep an eye on it though.

Nice looking amp ;)

No question about that! :)

I just found a G31 YT. Going to go pick it up from a friend in Orlando Sat. I hope this will help stabilize things a bit.

12.3 volts is pretty crappy especialy for an AGM battery Ive got an Alpha Cell thats been sitting in the garage for every bit of 6 months that still reads 12.7 volts

Agreed. I beat on it for better than 4 years though. It may need replacing as well.

Your volts dropping to the low 11's?

Yep, and today dropped into the 10's with the gains turned almost all they way down. Looks like I will be needing two. Getting a great deal on a G31 from a friend in Orlando. $50, I just have to go get it. I will most likely source a second G34/78 for the underhood duties. Alt still puts out 14.2.

I will definitely look into it. It will have to wait unfortunately. I am just about out of money and the semester has just begun.

Edit: I just searched and the charger is more than both my batteries, so it will definitely have to wait a bit. :)

So I built a temporary battery box and stuffed the huge D31 YT into the spare tire well and secured it. I know the install is a bit messy but I didn't want to cut the wire any shorter than it already is. This too will come out as soon as I get my Rainbows back and can put the ZX850.4 back in, so don't mind the mess. :P

The Voltage issue is still there. There is 0ga. from the front battery to the rear battery, then to a fuse block, and on to the 1500D. The ground from the 1500 is also 0gauge directly to the rear battery and then 0gauge ground from the amp to chassis. The Alpine amp is 0gauge from the rear positive to a fuse block and then 4gauge to the amp and 4gauge to the rear battery ground as well. I took off the rear battery ground and resanded the metal. It looked good prior to that, I am just trying to figure out why the V is getting so low.

I am currently sitting at 13.9-14.0 with the car running. I watched it dip down into the low 11's when I am pushing it. It isn't going under though. I have already ordered a new YT to replace the 3yr old YT under the hood in addition to the D31 that is my second battery.

Here is the temporary install:

Ideas are definitely welcome as to the voltage issue. Although not as bad as before it is still there. The SS PCA2000D I had either didn't pull near as much current or something has gone bad.

I hate to say it but I think something is worng, I have 1 saz-1500d on stock electrical(atm) with the exception of my big 3 and I have zero volt dops, with gains around 1/4 at full tilt. IDK what your problem could be mebbe alternator or something, but I have no problems whatsoever, 13-14 volts all the time. When playing music at idle the lowest may be 12.6 but thats realli pushin it hard.

That was what ai thought it could be as well. The alt still puts out 14.2 though. Tomorrow I am going to check the front battery ground. I will wait to see if the issue lies in the front YT too when the new one gets here.

mytyeerinpie, what subs are you running and at what ohm load? Also what vehicle?

I am still just wondering if I am pulling that much more current.

I got two 15.2 Orion HCCA's the older 03 models at 2ohms right now in a 1996 4runner. My HO alt broke and won't be back for about3 weeks so I am layin low on the electrical loads for now. I got stock battery, IDK what it is some german one, but nothing special.

The 1500 is a powerful amp therefore draws a good bit of current when cranked up - just how it is :)

it does draw some good current but still manageable drop for me @ 2 ohms it drops to about 13.4-13.6, @ 1.4 ohms it drops to 13.0-13.3 and @ .35 to 12.5-12.8, thats with stock alt, nsb 90 and a g31...before i put the nsb i had the g31 on the back and an acid battery upfront, at 2 ohms volt drop would be fron like 14.0-14.2 to 13.1-13.4

:) I was thinking this is the issue. I will add a 3rd battery if necessary. An alternator upgrade at this time isn't going to happen unfortunately. I have to wait for graduation.

Yeah, I am wired for 1ohm but the Q's are dual .7's so it is a bit less. With impedence rise I would not even have a guess. I am dropping from 13.9V to 11.9-12.0 right now. it is markedly better after letting the batteries charge up. I will see what the new YT will do when it gets here.

Not even close. I got the G31 for $50 from a friend that bought it for a car he just sold. So he kept the battery and didn't need it. The G34 I am getting is from a similar source. When it is al said and done, I may be out $150 for both batteries. I also had the expense of the 1500D recently and don't want to push my budget any further.

still $150 for 2 batts ain't bad they a atleast 160 each over here and hard to come by at that.

Same for me, which is why i assumed that was the price he paid for. You got a nice deal for 2 of them my friend.

I definitely did. I actually have been waiting around for these deals to materialize. I hated not having bass but I knew if I was patient I could find a some people that were willing to get rid of their batteries. The luck comes in by havings some awesome friends that know you are in school and don't mind helping you out. :)

Here is a side note, the voltage issue is honestly better. I rode tested yesterday and it didn't once dip below 13.4. I will put it through the paces again today and adjust everything accordingly. I have a ton of head room on the non-fader level adjustment and am going to tweek that a bit more. I still think the front battery is on its last leg.
