My gig

Recommended Posts

On saturday night i took a side step to the left attempting catch a football, without moving my right leg.

My right knee rolled into the inside and i fell. I straightened it out and went inside. After the girl massaged my knee we left for my pad so i could get my brace and go to oktoberfest. (i know, i know LOL).............anyways i feel decent all night.

I wake up sunday morning, after removing my brace to sleep, and realize i cannot stand without my knee trying to roll. I throw the brace back on and go to the ER. The docs finally xray it and claim they see nothing but an MRI would be better. I get given crutches and an imobilizer. They say my MCL is prolly damaged.

Today i go to the doctor on post and findout from her playing with it for an hr or so she believes i severly strained my MCL, prolly tore my quad a bit and the knee cap that has been bothering me while running over the past 2 years, now apperantly has no cartilege left.

So MRI will be this week, and hopefully they will fix me.

Also, I lost my Honduras assignment, so I am stuck in AZ awhile more.

MAN!

that's BS.

I work with a Navy guy here. Ruined his knees on the steele decks. DON'T take any BS from military docs. Get them to do EVERYTHING they can to fix you up. They try their best not to, which I can undestand for young guys but if you are low on cartilege now, it won't get better.

If you want/care, my wife has had some decent luck with glucosamine sulfate, better than almost anything else.

Glucosamine does do miracles, but it doesn't fix it. If you did tear the MCL, which it sounds like you did do, the best thing to do is to have it fixed. No matter what they tell you. I tore my MCL and destroyed my ACL a few years back, and all the doctors did on it was an ACL replacement. I still have problems now after about 4-5 years with my MCL. And just to let you know, that was a very painful surgery, with a long recovery time. I don't wish that on anybody.

Vicodin was my friend when I hurt my knee :drink40:

HOpefully they get yours taken care of pretty quick, it was a month and 1/2 after I hurt mine before they even did and MRI on it, and I started to develop a permanent limp from it. :(

We don't need pussies like you in the military anyways.

Ha HA!

Seriously, I don't understand this government. They stake a claim that our soldiers are the most-protected, best-trained, etc, yet they ALWAYS fail them after an injury, wound, or death. I have seen this shit too many times.

Jordan, I wish the best for you and hope they do right by you (and all others for that matter).

LOL Thanks man!!!!

They try and cut corners everywhere. We always joke "Trust in your equipment. Remember it was made by the lowest bidder."

Tricare is our insurence and they are a joke. I have been trying to get an MRI on this same knee since january. It takes the bitch seriously failing for them to get off their asses.

And Thanks Ryan and Sean. The well wishes mean alot guys.

Losing my six month assignment to Honduras hurt me and my career alot. Well it doesn't really 'hurt' my career but it sure as hell doesn't help it.

Does give me more time with the new girlfriend.

Considering the location that is really good news. Still frustrating as hell I am sure, but at least you didn't tear anything :)

Went to the gym today............didn't do shit with the legs but PT this morning was horrible. I never realized how much your knee's brace you on everyday movements. Even on pushups.

The ONLY "exercise" with NO knee discomfort was abdominals.
