enclosure for 18" btl fully loaded

Recommended Posts

bought a 18" ftl fully loaded for daily, and i was wondering if anyone can design something for me.

max dimensions are

55 in. x 20 in. x 26 in.

doesnt have to be exactly those sizes, if i can go smaller i wouldn't mind at all. this is going in a ext cab f150. going to be used for a daily ground pounder. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ecromeans,

Accd to SSA Sideport Box Calculator: Built well within your available space you can go with Inside Dimensions of 50w X 12d X 24h =14400. 14400/1728=8.33ft3. Square port 22.5 x 3". Length#1 is 8.00", length #2 is 8.25"("L" shaped port).

Can't wait to see this :]

Seeing how I drive an extended cab F150 too, I'd like to see how you like it, and I want to see some videos.

I'm going to be replacing my Fi Q with a eD 13Av.2 for a few weeks before my IA DP 21" gets here.

thanks i appreciate it, im bout to sketch it up and see how it would look. but what frequency would the box be tuned to?

pretty sure i'll like it, i have a ssd in it right now and i have no complaints, just wanting to do a dramatic change and be unique. going to be the only person out here in my town with a 18" in a truck. but putting a 21" dp is just going to be flat out ridiculous! i'm looking forwards to yours too, i was actually thinking about getting the dp 21" if i didnt get the btl, but i just went ahead and got the btl. hope to see it on my front door step in the next few weeks.

Can't wait to see some progress, depending on how long the 13Av.2 will hold me over, I'll drop the bomb and get that 21". You better make some videos of the BTL. Did you ever consider sub forward port up?

i'll get pics unlike last time i didnt get anything, but i will get some vids of it, and as a matter of fact, i actually want to see how that will be sub forward port up, or a side firing port. i'm still open to other designs and suggestions, i just want to be over the top loud, and not seeing too many btl's in ext cab 1/2 ton trucks i dont know exactly what will be the best design for it. my ssd is sub up and port up and its pretty loud, but im still wondering how sub forward port up or sub up and side firing would be. anyone with the those experiences in a truck please chime in.

My current box with a 12" Q is sub forward, port up, and it's really loud for a single 12". I've had dual 12" setups in the past that were sub up port up and they weren't nearly as loud, I found myself shifting and putting the box on an angle to find what was loudest to ear. But with sub forward port up I couldn't be happier. The box for my 13Av.2 (you'll see a build thread from BJ Fisher soon) will be set up the same way, only with aeros firing up.

nice box and dual btl's?

hmmmmmm

saw a video of 2 18" btl's off 2 saz3000d's in a f150 or f250 ext cab and it was pretty loud so it looked.

Dual BTL's would be sick but I don't know if I'll ever do it. The 21" is pretty much just a "Wow that's badass I've gotta have it".

I've seen that video, it was a 04-08 F150.

That's what I'm shooting for. Clean truck btw, here's mine. Currently it sits on a 2.5" Leveling kit, but that's being removed this week and a 2" drop shackle is being added to the back.

is it really necessary to quote every post if you guys are just talking back and forth and are posting directly under each other's post? It makes the page very long.

Nice, I've also got 6k HID's, to go with the Harley Davidson imitation housings. 5% tint all around, Aero 3030 catback, S&B intake, custom tune. Eventually I'll be building the motor, then going forced induction (turbo?). Right now I'm pretty satisfied though, I've pulled on a few new Silverados, a few of the new diesels too.

I'm in Orange County, CA btw.

yeah i got carried away, then i realized a second ago, but sweet! i've always wanted to do a turbo on a regular gas truck, my friend is going to do turbo on his 08 silvy 5.3, my truck is so slow, i hate it. i was trying to sell it, but i think im going to have to keep it for the long haul, i am a hot shot driver and i do a lot of driving and i dont really know if i want to add to the engine since it has 152k+ on it now and its only a 01. i'll probably get a slp loudmouth exhaust sooner or later, and a custom tune, theres a guy in the truck club im in that everybody goes to, and many other people all over get. wheatley tune if you're wondering.

Yeah I've heard of alot of Silverado guys getting Wheatley tunes. That 5.3 should be fast, I just can't decide between a supercharger or a turbo. Once again though, I might have to get a turbo for the wow factor, haha.

In a truck I've heard subs and port forward also, and sealed sub forward, sealed sub up. The best style I've heard so far is subs forward port up, and that 18" would fit a lot better firing forward.

ehhh, i have bench seat with console and i think it may hit depending on the depth of the box. but i'm still up for whatever designs, im going to put the box on the back seat and secure it down, i cant remove the rear seats as i have my tools and straps for work underneath them and the box would just be in the way.

Yeah I kept my back seat too. I'd rather put the box in, strap it down, and be able to take it out in 30 seconds if I need to.

Yeah?

Maybe I'll consider trying this for the Death Penalty.
