3000D high voltage

As of today i finally have 99% of my wiring finished for my second externally regulated alt. Im going to get a volt meter of some sort so i know exactly where I'm sitting at voltage wise at all times (just in case the knob is bumped or any other unforseen issues) So for the next week or so im going to have a very small fuse on both the alt wire and amp wires just to be extra safe. I was just wondering how many of you guys are running the 3000d at 16v (18.8)? and if there's any thing i should know? I'm trying to be as cautious as possible to make sure nothing goes wrong but i thought id ask for advice from the experts

i'm not sure, but isn't 18.8V a lil too high for that amp...

i think thats the range... like a 12 volt system charges at 14 volts.... i think a 16 volt system charges at 18 volts.

ya ive been told to charge the kinetiks at 18.8

18.8 might be normal for a 16V system, but 18.8 could damage the amp.. (i read that somewhere on this forum)

that's what i'm sorta worried about. and i cant really expect much resistance with the wires since there amp is so close to the battery and i'm using 2/0 wire

if i remember correctly, 18.0V should be the limit... that amp will go nuts with that kind of voltage, i feeling sorry for your subs already...

i believe u should be fine...even though ur chargn at 18.8 i think once u start playin ur setup ..depending on how much batts u workin with...it should drop just below 18v..if ur doing 1ohms on the amp...if u doing anything lower than .5 ohms expect to be in the 15-16v range.cuz with any amp at that point u really pullin juice..

good thing sundown amps r pretty efficient.

if 18.0 is the limit i dont see an issue of running it at 18 instead of 18.8 i can always bump up the voltage for large draws and back down as necessary. Hence the necessity of the guage

sry missed ur post 80in.... im running 2 hc16v's and i have the subs wired to 1 ohm. Im probably never going to have them at .5 because they are quad wired in series inside the box and id rather not take them out again

ya i only do spl comps 3 times a year or so... i'm mainly concerned with daily continuous time.

true but my line of thinking at the time was i figured if im going to add a second alt why not

I just added the fuse for the amp and lets just say wow. I have both the gain and output control on my processor all the way down and it sounds just about even with the mids/highs

Preferably the same voltage as the supply, yes.

sweet. i bet that's whats giving me issues right now. Amps been doing very good thou. Doesnt even get close to hot and im hella happy with the remote gain knob. Thanks for everything
