Brand New SAZ-3000D Buzzing?

Recommended Posts

First time posting here, but have been reading up on Sundown for the past few months and have like everything I've read so far. So a month ago I purchased two brand new SAZ-3000Ds and they are strapped together to make a 6000W monster. Well I was trying to do some no load gain settings like I have done in the past on other amplifiers. I have three Powermaster D3100 batteries with 1/0AWG cable between each as well as 1/0AWG cable for Pos and Neg to each amplifier. Also I have double runs of 8AWG between each amp as well. I set all controls for both amps to zero connected my sub out RCA from my HU to the master amp and the BR out to the BR in of the slave amp. I placed a DMM across the POS speaker terminal of the master amp and the POS speaker terminal of the slave amp. At 2 ohms I should read approx 109V for a 6000W RMS output. Well I have a 60Hz sine wave 0dB recording that I was using to set the gains. The voltage goes up to 96V with no problems, but as soon as I hit the 105V threshold the slave amp begins to make a buzzing noise. The protection light does not come on; it just starts to buzz. Can anyone help with this? I was hoping to have this completd for the weekend and I don't want to have to pull out the amp and ship it off. Thanks for all the help.

Justin

Move the Ground wires that Strapp the amps Together AWAY from the POWER connections and the Buzzing should Stop........

i was having the same issue tracked it down too that !!!

when the 2x grounds that Link the amps together get too close to the power supply the amp will pick up noise from the eletrical system---

i re-roughted them Under the amps away from power and the noise Stopped

I haven't tried each amp on its own yet. the way the amps are mounted I do not think I will be able to reroute the speaker wire so it looks like my only option is to try a new RCA cable which I'm going to do now. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Hook them up and play them - the buzz may very well go away when loaded.

I agree. You have a pair of 3Kw amps, they have massive transformers in the PS, a little mechanical noise when at full tilt would be normal I would think...

its not the speaker wires that need to be re-roughted, its the 2x ground wires that link the amps together / move them away from the source of power, where they connect to the amps

well guys looks like it was the brand new speakers. the suspensions on them are stiff to begin with so I think the impedance was dropping below 2ohms. I played all 4 subs on one amp at a time for about an hour each with no problems. Then I strapped the amps together this time using the other amp as the master and everything works flawless. It pounds. And amazingly the Powermaster D3100s are just awesome. I have a stock 150amp alternator 1 run of 1/0AWG for power and ground from the yellowtop under the hood to the back of the car. The D3100s are daisychained using 1/0AWG and then I have the two 3000D with 300Amp fuses each and 1/0AWG power and ground. And I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.4 with a 4AWG power and ground. I am seeing no voltage drop at all even at full tilt. I thought I may have blown the 200Amp fuse under the hood but I check the voltage on the amps and it reads 13.86 volts sometimes 14.4 volts.

Thanks Jacob for recommending the D3100s. And thanks for making such a kick ass amp.

Oh yeah and guys check out my install. Its just about 600lbs worth of equipment.
