Blowthrough gasket and MDF question...

Recommended Posts

Well heres the plan.

Thats the rear window in my cab.

thats the front window in the fiberglass camper shell...

I plan to take out both windows and run a gasket between the two. I've heard that you use some kinda RV gasket... what is it called?

As far as I know I'm going with two IXL-12s and a 2500D. Would 3/4 MDF be thick enough (Rona has no 1").. I didn't check any other stores.

with space like that your better off spending money on some large low power subs, like 4 mj18m's and a single saz 3000d or 2 and a saz1500 depending on budget or you could even try out the new sae-1200d. a sae-1200d and 2 mj18's is only $660 a large low tuned box and you would have a serious daily ground pounder.

I was kinda thinkin 4 of those MJM-18s and that Orion 2500D...

My box guy don't really like the MJMs...

I'm so confused to be honest. If I knew how do design a box I'd do a box that would lay flat like those pics, 4 18s in a ported box, and just put a baffle over top the box like in that pic and seal it to the truck... done... but I was told by somebody on SMD that it might turn into a bandpass by accident or something and mess with tuning... argggggh.,....

never mind the mj's are only single 4ohm you would need to get an ampthat puts 12-1400w at 2ohm like a kicker zx1500.1 of ebay for $400

The Orion 2500D puts out 2500W @ 1 ohm.... so 4 SVC4 subs = 1ohm.... :suicide-santa:

a box wouldnt be hard to design a box and 4 18's would be sick on a 2500d. do you have a 2500d already if so that helps money a lot? put the cap on and see how far from the bed floor to bottom of the window is and go from there if you want help let me know.

No I don't have the 2500D but I can get a pretty decent deal on it...

I can get a pretty good idea of how much space there will be from the floor to the window with the cap off. There should be tons of room there for the MJMs, the box can take up the whole space of the bed.. I don't care.

you should have no problem with 4 mj's then about a 25cu box tuned to 28hz would do nice

I'll measure the space when I get home.

I seen a vid of 3 MJ-18s on a SAZ-1500D on youtube... looked pretty crazy... actually hang on now..

..... about 1 minute later...

Says it does a 146.4

If I could get close or surpass that with four in my truck I'd definitely be happy...
