RE Audio Component speakers

Recommended Posts

Midbasses aren't too bad, the tweeters could use some improvement. I'd rather piece together a set from Vifa drivers individually and run them active, that way you could substitute better-sounding tweets. Power handling isn't an issue either way.

What do you have for an Alpine?

Those RE's wouldn't be a bad start if you could find a small four-channel and run active off of your head unit. Or maybe a used set of Alpine Type-X's, I actually liked those better than the RE's.

They'll sound ok just off the deck. They'll be better with an amp obviously, but I think the only real thing you'd be missing out on besides the extra few decibels is the highpass crossover for the mid. You'll likely want to get some kind of filter for them so that they don't bottom out.

i can do this right? get the signal from existing speaker wire then go to the crossover then come off the crossover to the mid bass and twetter?

hahah and how would this sound lol.. ok?

Using thick wires in your application won't make an audible difference.

If the deck is all you have, they'll do as good as anything else.

If you're going to spend $80, go on Ebay or one of these forums and get something vintage that's used, instead of a modern piece of junk :)

I know you can find PG M50's for that price...would be a heck of a lot better than that.

I like their older stuff...anything newer than the Titanium series, meh.
