big thank you to everyone at fi and ssa forums!

I am almost done my setup on my corolla 98 and I just wanted to thank everyone in these forums for helping me put this thing together. I'm running a fully loaded bl 15 off a sundown saz 1500d (3.7 cubes net volume), i have 4 cdt cl series components with the upgraded tweets, my headunit is an alpine 9886 and an sax 100.2 should be here through the mail this week (temporarily while sax 100.4 become available) all my wires and fuses are from knukoncepts.

I have never owned a soundsystem myself, but I have many friends who have them and just this year i caved in and decided i needed to buy a top notch soundsystem without paying big dollars for a brand name. I've been slowly putting everything together since late april, and for some reason i was almost afraid it was'nt going to be loud enough...wow was i ever wrong. At 1 quarter gain on the amplifier not only do i have the strongest bass in the school the sound gets so strong it moves my hair, hurts my ears and the waves hit my trunk lid so hard it makes a hardcore snapping noise...this thing is incredible. I was in shock for a good ten minutes when i first heard this thing move, and i could swear its getting louder every day i hear it (i guess its breaking in).

In short I just wanted to thank everyone at fi/sundown and people at ssa forums for helping me every step of the way. It really would'nt have been possible to do this myself without you guys.

Honestly this thing is rediculous...i am by far louder than my friend's 2 cdt 10's, my other buddies 2 12" kickers and my buddies adire tumult and my other's 2 12 inch pioneers...and i mean louder by a landslide not like 5 friends acting as a judge and voting mine unanimously louder(and mine sounds better too). The best part is that it's just at a quarter gain i still have ton's of power to feed the thing...but i wont attemp it until i get a h/o alt (so far i just did the big 3 in 0/1 gauge).

I would highly recommend any of the products i mentioned above to anyone. (even the corolla for taking the beating my sub is constantly throwing at it). Again, big thanks to everyone!

You're welcome. wait, I don't think I did anything. haha.

But I will do something now, and that is clear up your misconception about the gain. It's not a volume knob. Just because you only have it at 1/4 doesn't mean you have 3/4 more to get full power. You're probably already getting full power at 1/4 gain.

Glad you like! Sundown 1500d and a Fully loaded 15" FI BL is such a perfect combo! Whats your voltage dropping to that your so scared to turn the gain up a little more? I felt like I had to turn my gain at about 11 30 to get full output of the amp.

haha there's still much to be learned! I actually let my teacher who used to be a sound tester for clubs and events in montreal do the tuning for me, he was the one who told me that there was only about 1/4 of the amps power being fed to the sub, i assumed the same since my elcectrical seemed to be keeping up with the settings he put the amp at and when i checked the amp the gain knob was about 1/4th of the way set and all the other knobs were nowhere near the their end either. but as you can see i still have much to learn, but i've also been a long way since i started at this forum...

sadly enough i did'nt check the vd yet. i would just crank it for a couple solid seconds to see its potential. i'm hooking up a volt meter i bought last week so i can keep a closer eye on my electrical. the lights were'nt dimming on the car at all and i was'nt noticing any electrical drops i would normally notice on any of my friends' cars so i figured my stock electrical is holding up pretty well to what my teacher set the amp at. but honestly this thing is just ridiculous how it makes things shake on my car.the doors all bluge a couple millimeters out of place every time a strong note hits and my trunk makes a noise as if someone is punching it from the inside...

i checked it with a multimeter today. with the setting i have it on my amp, if i put the system at full wang on my headunit the voltage will slowly drop (like drop to 11.5 in about a minutes time) but as soon as i give it a shot of gas to bring my revs up to around 2000-3000 rpm it jumps right back up to about 13. not bad for a stock 80 amp alt and the performance i`m getting from the sub.
