SAE 1000D right for my set up?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of acquiring the rest of my system and basically the last thing I have to add is my sub amp and sub. I think I've settled on an ID Max 12 D2. I'm wondering what kind of drain running the SAE 1000D will put on my stock charging system at 1ohm. Also, I'd imagine this would be plenty amp to run an ID Max? It should have plenty of oomph if I planed on having the ID Max in a sealed enclosure in the trunk of my '03 Mazda 6.

I have an Alpine MRV-1507 class A/B for my front stage. It's a bit of a current hog when bridged but when running mono it doesn't seem to drain the charging system nearly as bad. So... will running a SAE 1000D at 1 ohm onto an ID Max 12 D2 wired to one ohm not kill my charging system? I will of course do the big 3 upgrade and be running 1/0 gauge to the trunk.

Also, will the amp be fine at 1ohm? Will it be ok to run at that (playing music) for extended periods of time?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on your car/alternator.

The 1000D will be fine for an IDMax, not a sub I'd choose but I am sure you have your reasons.

Thanks, I guess it just starts to suck the amperage at 1ohm eh? I just know of one for sale and am thinking maybe I should scoop it up. I really don't want to buy something I will regret though. I like headroom in my systems and worry sometimes.

So if you wanted an "SQ-L" sub that you'd put in a sealed box in the trunk of a sedan, trying to save some room for strollers, etc. what would you pick? Since this is a discussion forum, discuss! I appreciate all/any input whatsoever.
