Thank You SSA

Recommended Posts

based on a few stupid questions i asked, and countless hours of reading other people's stupid questions and the patient and knowledgable responses from regulars here i have been able to piece up a good budget system that i feel really represented exacly my goal when deciding what equipment to buy. just wanted to say thanks for all the free advice and patience. (i never would have ended up with a sundown saz-1500 if it weren't for ssa) :drink40:

Nice to see a topic like this. What else do you have planned in your system?

Well, heres the answer, theres no short way to say it

the 1500 is going to power a re sx 15 in a 4ftcu @ 31-34hz, i've got a zed designed (confirmed by stephen @ zed) us accoustic usc2100 for my front stage (MA audio hk50c component), stephen @ zed is going to repair it when i ship it to him, in the meantine chris @ db-r has an old school 300 watt jensen 2ch he says works good (which i believe because i got the saz-1500d refurb from him for half of retail and it kills), the jensen is rated @ around 80w rms which is fine for me (im going to yank the 6x9's and only run front comps cuz its a coupe with fold down seats who cares bout the rear stage i sit in the back seat anyways). i went with the kicker 1/0 because it came with all the distribution and an excess of 1/0 (20ft power) as well as two 5ft 4 ga runs. im going to install all the wire and speakers, im having a reputable local shop build my enclosure for the RE SX15d2. i have an old pioneer premier headunit (5 yr old w/ two 4volt preamps f/r). this is going to be one hell of a ghetto blaster for around $1k in total. heres my list.

saz 1500 refurb $360

repaired us accoustics usc2100 $?

jensen 2ch 300w $25

ma audio HK50C $60

RE Audio SX15d2 $260

Kicker PDK1 1/0 wire & distribution $140

custom enclosure approx $250

head unit (5 yr old pioneer premiere tank)

im going to adress voltage problems as they arise (deep cycle/ho battery, additional batteries, big 3, ho alternator) because i am on a budget and ive not had severe voltage problems yet. i chose a local shop for the enclosure because when i spoke to the guy working there, he didn't want to talk about specific design without the t/s for my woofer and the specific location and size of my enclosure, this, along with their portfolio was reassuring to me (Car Stereo Guys in santa barbara). i chose the re sx because i copped out and didn't want to fork the extra $50-150 over for a BL or wait for icons to become available (i know ill catch some flack for that but the SX was a good deal). my overall goal for the system is high output with min $ while retaining SOME sound integrity. i listen to mostly bay rap.

im going to build a board for the box and amps to mount on when i run the new wire, i guess pictures are in order. this is my first system, in my favorite car which ive had stock speakers and two jl 12w0's on the US accoustics amp for 6+ years. im pretty stoked to be doing my own system as i have done much home theater work but little vehicular work. i pretty much based all my decisions on information read in this forum over the last few weeks. so again thank you guys, im pretty confident i made the right choice for on a complete system for under $1k!! fing05.gif

ok, so the shop that built my box worked out great. they built me a 4 cu ft after port enclosure @ 34.48hz w/ 28 sq in of port. it fits perfectly in my trunk. they also tenatively built a rack concealing the wiring and set the gains for my amp. it was well worth the $. it's not too pretty but it makes my roof look like a piece of paper and the car is rattling to chit. i need to find the charger for my canon sd and ill take pics. again thanks ssa cuz i think i nailed it for the money spent. (oh and i added a red top optima cuz the sundown ate my battery and costco had giant piles of optimas for 65 bucks a piece haha)

it's a 1995 accord cpe. and yes denim, in the last couple days i realized that i have just scratched the surface..... i mean i am confident i chose good equipment, it's just that i see the lack in serious voltage (alternator & extra batteries) , theres so much noise too ( sound deadening will be a bank and back breaking endeavor ) as well as balancing my front stage ( i need a new head unit, need to repair my zed designed two channel amp and have components professionally instaled in my doors as i am inadequately equipped and too time restricted to install components properly ) . I also need to weigh the value of doing this as my car has 175000 miles on it :)

overall im happy with the grunt i get from my daily music
