Volume control and switching outdoor speakers

Recommended Posts

The tempurature outside is going to be perfect for grilling in the next month or so and I decided I was tired of having to turn up the indoor setup so loud the people inside the house had to shout over it so I could listen to music. So I bought a pair of Dayton indoor/outdoor speakers today and a ton of wire (500ft). I had intentions of using the "B" channel of the "A/B" selector on my HT receiver as a channel to run the outside speakers. I found lots of information, but very little specifics on the subject.

My questions.

1) Can I use the "B" speaker selector on the Yamaha RXV2400 to power these in addition to its regular duties?

2) Volume control, is it as simple as purchacing the impedence matching vc and putting it inline?

3) If I cannot use the "B" channel, where do I go from there? Amp? What to use as an input? I am sure the RXV2400 has an additional output, I just need to figure that part out if I need an additional amp.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

it is as easy as that. there should be a button on the receiver and or remote labeled "a/b" that allows u to independantly turn on/off a, b, or a & b channels. nice receiver btw ;)
