h/o alt for Nissan Frontier

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to run a h/o alt for just the stereo and its batteries AND keep the stock for truck functions only? Looking at 200 amp alt for the system and it seems no one has any idea if this will work. I can make the bracket and pully, I've got a lathe and CNC here so no problem there, but I would like to solve this issue and how much I have to chit out to make it work. Should I just bolt up a couple of big junkyard GM's and call it a day? Any ideas??

It can be done. That's usually how people run 16v systems. Question is "why?"

The stock alt is on the bottom of the motor in a small space. The current requirement for the system will be at least 150 amps or more and no one to my knowledge makes a compact h/o alt.

Have you talked to the folks at Ohio Gen? I'm sure they can build a HO alt for your truck. They're making one for my 350Z.

How do you figure?

No one makes a cheap HO alt for the new Frontier at all. I can't remember who makes the only one currently on the market but I don remember a price tag in the $600 range.

For daily use a battery bank is your best friend. Average current draw is much less than the 150A that you think you need, I don't care how big the system is.
