Will my electrical be okay???

Recommended Posts

I have a Nissan 350Z and I have ordered a 180amp HO alternator from Ohio Gen to go along with a Kinetik HC1400 under the hood. Do you think that'll be sufficient to power one SAZ-1500D (1ohm 1500W), one SAX-100.4 (bridged 320Wx2), and one SAX-100.2 (stereo 100Wx2)? I already have the "Big 3" done as well. I refuse to run Capacitors so please don't even bother suggesting one.

IMO, that will be pushing it.

The only other thing I can do is add another battery. The 180amp alt is the biggest they make.

i think you shouldnt have any problems at all

my electrical consists of a 90A alt, 2/0 wiring and 2 optima yellowtops

with 1 saz3000d and a blaupunkt velocity burning desire 1 my voltage isnt dropping under 12,2V even with the car NOT running

I don't play my system with my car off so I think I might try it like this for while. In the future I may add another battery if I feel I need it. Thanks for the responses.

make it easy, get a voltmeter

if the voltage realy is dropping low, you can get a bigger battery

you should be fine that Ohio Gen is alot stronger than 180 amps Ive got a 160 amp and when they tested it it maxed out at 224 amps

That's good to know. I like that all their alts come with a birth sheet.

You will be good unless you plan on running the 1500d at 1/2 ohm and all of the SAX amps at 2 ohms and frequently abuse them.

You could add an HC600 or HC800 in the trunk for a little extra juice but its not really needed.

You def need more current than that.

Thanks for the replies fellas. It seems the consensus is that I should be okay. If not, I may need to add another battery but it doesn't have to be the biggest honking battery that money can buy.

i will change the 2 optimas to Hawker Datasafe HX400, that has to be enough to feed 2 3000d's for ~3-4seconds

im in a class where i am only allowed to have 2 batterys and i am not allowed to let the car run while doing the burp

and as long as i dont have any big voltage drops, i dont see any problem?

i know that 150 amp hours each 3000d is what jacob calls for.

your spl car is a 300z... sweet

350Z. It's not an SPL car, it's my daily driver. It's more like a LSQ car as I'm running a set of SEAS Lotus Reference up front and just two 10's in the hatch.

Sweet ride with kick-ass system. I run a bit less power with 120A alt, and have no voltage drop issues even at full blast while driving. Drops a bit at idle, and drops even more if I use AC. It looks like you should be more than OK as is with your battery and 180A alt.

I have a 140 amp alt in my 1985 Cutlass and a single yellow top and I run a 3000D and a PPI ProMos-450 with hardly any dimming or voltage drop. (.3 volts)

You should be fine.
