ixl-10 power handling

Recommended Posts

i know the rms is 1000w but how would they do with 600wrms? im want to go with 2 10's off my RE12.1 and seen these look pretty promiseing. also can i get them in dvc4? or would 1 12 do better with all 1200wrms than 2 10's with 600 each?

The RMS power handling of the sub has absolutely NOTHING to due with power requirments. 600 watts will be fine, and could even be too much in some alignments....

My 12 never see's that much power even though I have it on a 1000w amp, not even close actually. It can sound great with much less than what it is rated for.

well if there only dvc2 looks like i would only be able to get 1 12 to match my amp. thanks for the input.

Sealed you should be ok. But if its ported I would be carefull. I used my USAmps MD.1D(1200rms@1ohm) And it was just slightly a bit to much.

I'm thinking about getting this sub to replace my TC10 OEM because it's smaller and is a D2 so I can more output from my SAE-1000D (can only get 600w for the D4 TC10)

Not to thread jack but a few questions-

-optimum and bare minimum sealed size?

-is the 1000D @ 1000w running 2ohm OK for the IXL 10?

-how heavy is the sub?

All I can add here is that that power sealed should down right SEXY!

That what it sounds like based on your review that I read. Do these do well in a small sealed box and what size would be best? I'd like to be .5cft - .8cft if possible.

Well I havent really tested it sealed... but the ported box was .85. So sealed should be close to .6 optimal.

Cool, smaller size, thanks. Is it safe to say this will sound good sealed? I think I'll pick one up.

Mine is ported. I believe it is .85 cubes at 38Hz. I think.

Will this work in a sealed box and what would the minimum box size be as i'm thinking of going with 4 of these driver's...

You may want to pm Mark. I know he is doing some changes on the IXL's and he can tell you what is best for them.
