Are there any reviews for the Hybrid Audio products? I was planning on having a set of SEAS Lotus Reference components installed at the end of this month and was wondering how the Hybrid Audio drivers compare. I was planning on running the RW165 mids in kick panels and having the RT27F tweeters molded into my A-pillars. I'm open to the idea of a 3-way system, particularly The Legatia Pro L1 tweeter, L4 mid, and either the L6 or L8 midbass. I'll be honest with you and say that I've demoed the SEAS and I personally thought they were the king of components so I'm wondering how the Hybrid Audio's compare. As far as amplification, I was originally going to run a Sundown SAX-100.4 bridged to the mids and a SAX-100.2 to the tweets. If I went with 3-way's, I'd probably run two SAX-100.4's. One would be bridged running to the midbass and the other running the mids and tweets. All processing will be handled by a Zapco DSP6.

Is there anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area that has a set to demo? I'm in Fremont but I'd be willing to do a little driving to hear someone's setup.

Generally speaking.....(God save me for using these silly terms)....

SEAS mag cones: precise, clinical, lively, transparent

Legatia paper cone: robust, snappy, full, edgy

The RT27f is pretty good off axis. My personal favorite for A pillar monting (up to 45-60* off axis). They did a nice job with the Sonotex dome in that it can play loud and very clear and still not "spit." I keep going back to them as a reference. On the down side, they are not the most "natural" sounding tweeters out there. I think the d2904/6000 is better in that department.

The L1 is a nice tweeter, but it's no Lotus. I think you pay a bit extra for a compact dome with a chambered-back, but you also get better distortion performance as well. This is where the L1Pro comes in. Personally, if you do run the L4, I see no need to put the Pro in as they can play up to 8-10k quite well.

So what you're saying is that the Legatia Pro L1 tweet is probably better for a 2-way system than a 3-way right? How do you think L6's molded into the kicks and the Pro L1's molded into the A-pillars would compare to the exact same setup using the SEAS? I really think I need to hear these Hybrid Audio's for myself to truly decide.

Hi there.

FoxPro hit the nail on the head. The SEAS are very clinical and technical speakers and Hybrids and more tonal and accurate. Both are good, but do vastly different things.

Not necessalry. You might like the sound of the Pro up high better than the L1. Also, maybe the Pro has lower distortion overall and performs better in your specific install. Scott would have to answer that. Go to the Hybrid forum, there's a lot of info on this.

One thing is the RW165 will break up something nasty above 2-3 khz, where the L6 will probably stay true up a bit higher. All depends on tuning and install.
