Stero Setup for a '94 GMC Sonoma

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm in Alberta. Been looking at a few manufacturers in the USA. I was planning on two AudioQue HDC3 18s.. but its gunna cost over $800 dollars to get the two to me, including the cost of the woofers.

Mach5 is alot closer. I heard about Mach5 from a guy on CanadianCarAudio, who suggest one of the MLI-65 for a computer subwoofer.

I've been looking at the MJM-18. I really do wish I had a larger budget.

Original plan was 6. But the cost of the woofers themselves, wiring, alternator, batteries, and the rest of the audio gear I need for my truck... its gunna go over my budget..

I have a budget of at least 1200 for my whole stereo, but probably not more than 1500, but maybe a lil more. I'm going to use welding lead wire as my power wire, and see what I can find for door speakers (MLI-65s??) and the other stuff.

I'm going to do a "reversable blowthrough" in my truck. I have a fiberglass truck top for the bed, and I'm going to take the rear window out of the truck cab, and the front window out of the fiberglass truck top, and use that RV acordian gasket in between, and put my subs in the bed, with a baffle to direct sound.

So I have a good bit of space, just not an extremely high budget.

How many MJM-18s would you guys run, and how much power?

I posted this @ soundground too haha.

I've heard nothing but good about Mach5.

What surprises me is you didn't get a PM from Yuli trying to pawn off one of his HDC's :D

Thought about it but there to expensive haha.. Plus I hate the dustcap..

Why don't your MJMs have the Mach5 logo? Not proud to fly your colors er what?

I'm thinking three to four of those MJMs on a Sundown SAZ-1500D.. I dunno.

EDIT.. Mark, I replied to your message on SG.

My names Neil BTW.. go figure.. same as SGs founder.

Actually, the MJ-18M does have the logo on the dust cap. So the flag is flying high :D

Haven't updated the pics on the site yet...

It is, but the motor, coil and spider has been beefed up a bit...

Ok cool. Thanks for the info.. I replied to your message on SG again.lol.

I should be able to fit 3-4 MJMs firing up in the bed of a small pickup.

I've got to clean the inside of the fiberglass bed shell and lay it on to get some measurments, but I'm guessing space shouldnt be an issue.

Might end up with two MJMs though... cause I keep forgetting I need a deck, speakers, wiring, amps, etc.

This could really be something.

What makes you say that?

The amount of cone surface you plan on using. :)

I don't think I will be able to do the amount of subs originally planned.

Mark do you have some more photos of the IXL 12.2.2 other than whats on your site?

I'm 95% sure I'll be using one of them, on a Hifonics Txi-1008D or Sundown SAE-1000D, in a tapped horn.

The body parts I need for my truck are alot more expensive than I had figured plus I want to start bagging it.
