Helped a ton on the Fostex's too, they have a very similar basket design, with a very large motor as well.

It is tempting to try on mine. I have been thinking about trying a three way active, but I cannot seem to nail a mid that fits my needs. I think Hi-Vi has a small 2" dome mid that might be worth trying.

I used non-hardening modeling clay, bought it at a local hobby store. Same stuff used on the back and edges of MDF speaker baffles :)

Funny thing is I'm in the same boat as you. Very tempted to try a 3-way setup. 2" dome would be easy to install.
