It contains formaldehyde, not something you want to be ingesting on a regular basis. Sounds like you're taking the proper precautions, though...if you really manage to kick up a lot of dust in the air, a mask or respirator might not be a bad thing to look into.

I was told by a guy at the shop that homedepot's MDF is not treated with that stuff thats why it feels fuzzy instead of lows were it feels stonger and tighter on the ends. is this true if so il just keep geting my wood from homedepot.

Guy is a moron. The formaldehyde is in the glue they use to bond the MDF together. If it didn't have any, it would just be a pile of dust. If the MDF is flaking off, it isn't worth using. Home Depot lumber sucks shit.

Dust on the skin makes you itch like you're covered in glass dust. It's maddening because it is possible to have an allergic reaction to the chemicals in the glue.

Been to the ER for that one. Nice shot of Benadryl and a good night's sleep and GTG. All but quit using MDF after that one. Def. don't use aged MDF anymore.

I have a sinus infection right now from building a box last Tuesday. Went to the Dr yesterday and got my antibiotic (first trip to the Dr in 3 yrs ) MDF with no mask always makes me sick. Stupid me for building without a mask on!!!
