Oh and have you even researched who designs and builds most Ford's current engines ?

Yamaha, Porsche, Mazda, Cosworth, BMW, etc.

But not Ford !  Some of those companies are owned by Ford, but still

not made/designed by Ford ...

But as Kent has said and just an FYI, I will tell you, with out the heads, the Modular Ford motors are pretty much worhtless. The only motor with a decent bottom end is the Cobra R 5.4, oh and also, the newer blown Cobras. Other than that, Ford pissed out on the cheap powder cracked con-rods and hyperuetectic pistons.

I gotta give GM credit, they have their stuff together on the durability side when you start adding power.

Oh and that motor there is using stock Ford production head castings. There are currently no aftermarket heads available for the mod motors, nor will there ever probably be. With extensive enough port work, they can flow enough to support 2000+ HP engines.

the fact is again, the engine was indeed designed by ford, while "souped-up" by others, the design is still ford's.

to further tire's point (i'm really not picking on ya jmac :gheychase: )....even if Teksid manufactored the heads and block or not...they didn't design them...ford did. improve them? yes..but not design them...so it would still be considered a ford derived motor.

i dunno why i didn't think of that yesterday...lol.....

i agree wholeheartedly...i believe redesign..improve would almost definitely be the same thing!

Chevy needs to get off their A$$ and bring the DOHC back to the Z06!!! The ZR1 motor was a work of art. Put todays technolgy behind that motor, which itself was way ahead of it's time, and the Z06 will be whipping everyone's A$$. IMO.

My guess would that an OHV design is cheaper to implement than a DOHC design and, as we all know, profit margins are the deciding factor ...

the zr1 motor was designed by lotus and built (at least partially IIRC) by mercury marine. it was a work of art!

this new 6.0 ltr is a better motor overall, with damn near identical performance. so i don't see the zr1 coming back. besides, what is hinted for the z06, can u say 427?, will surely whipp anything ass in it's class anyway...
