I have a Cerwin Vega Vmax 12" and am looking to build a ported box for it, but cannot find the specs! Anyone know of the specs and/or tune it to? It is the newest model, hard to find on the web. All black cone with Red Lettering, not the silver model. Thanks for any help at all!

could someone help me with blueprints for the recommend ported box? I just need measurements and if possible some CAD designs or drawings that would be great. My dad is great with blueprints and I want to get him involved into this project, so thanks for your help if possible!

great help, but I can't really figure out how to use it exactly.here are the specs I need and know how to input them into this.

Total Volume: 2.5 Cu. Ft.

Port Area: 20 sq in.

Port Length: 17"

Port Tuning: 35hz

Net Volume: 2.15 cu ft

even a walk through on how to input this would be great, thanks!

The fields with a red * are the ones you put your cursor at the end of and left-click and then use your backspace until the red number is gone. Then, put in your measurements(using decimal values)on each line until you come up with a buildable shape that meets your tunning target.

It is actually pretty damn easy to use. But, you are the only one stopping yourself. Just think, you can use it to design boxes for your friends and they will think that you are Da Kine! But, only you and SSA have to know.

Go on now...........................................

i've gotten the size of the box right and port length, but it should be 20 sq in for the port, it comes out to be 41. Any ideas I can do to fix it, without screwing up it already, i have it tuned to 35hz also.

How much power are you planning on feeding this? I'd go with more vent area in 2.5 cubes. That seems awfully large for that driver also. IIRC, the VMax were far more acclimated to a smaller enclosure than the XLs, and that's XL territory there.

well just to give it power it is a Lanzar 250 amp, which supposedly pushes 1000 watts on 2 channels. It is a 1000 watt maximum subwoofer, i have had it in a smalllllll sealed box before, and I know it can get louder for sure. I was looking at building it for the 35hz, but the recommended enclosure is a 1.75 cu. ft. and 37hz. that is a circular port. I would like to keep it a rectangular port. Next setup is 2.25cu. ft. and has a 20 sq. inch port, but is a 40 hz. which would you recommend?

Well, what type of music are you most akin to listen to? I listen to pretty much everything, aside from country, so if it were me, and I had the room, I'd put that puppy right at 2 cubes net, with 24-30 square inches of vent area and tune it between 30-32.

Mainly, more rap, but metallica, disturbed...etc. too. I just am finding the box tool confusing to use, could you possibly throw one together for me on there. and just send a print screen so i can get the dimensions. It will be my first time making a ported enclosure and using this tool.

turned out the subwoofer didn't fit the front baffle. I posted a topic in the enclosure forum. hoping somone can figure it out for me. I was thinking of making everything 2-3 inches taller. What do you think?

At 13.5" high, you should have had plenty of room. That gives you 12" internally, so either you cut wrong, or you have a 15.

well, it didn't fit either way. Couldn't get enough room to screw it in i suppose. Everything was cut right, just seems weird to me it didn't work. Either way, I'm going to just get another one of these subs most likey and get a dual ported box.
