using clay as a spacer.

Recommended Posts

hi, i have been doing so searching and i see that some people use clay as a spacer and i am wondering 2 things. how well they work and the other being how do you do it. cuz i need 2" spacers on the cheap side and all i could think of on how to get the clay to work for me is use something like these http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores...03+501959+90025 to give the clearance and then just fill in the space with clay and more then likely us fiberglass resin to make sure it is seal.

I don't know of anyone using just clay as the entire spacer, usually you'd want to use something solid for the actual spacer such as MDF or plywood, then use clay on where it meets the door and all around the outer ring...but the speaker isn't screwed into clay only :)

Don't use clay only, it won't hold up too long. If you need a 2" inch spacer glue two mdf rings together and clamp em'.

If you still need more room, you can use clay or a deadener around them.

it isn't a spacer :(

Baffle =\ ..spacer layman's terms

The clay isn't either.

The spacer/baffle is made of mdf, clay is just the messy isolator and mass that is added to it. If you try and do it only with clay your system will fail miserably.
