I contacted all the car audio stores in my town and they will not (or can not) order 18" boxes. one place, Custom Car and Sound said they will build one but it is going to be on the upwards of +$450

If you have the basic tools, it's not hard to build a box. Just go around and look at some build logs and you'll pick up a lot from those. You can build your own box for under $75 I'd say. (or close) If you don't build your own box, you're going to pay. Unless you have a friend that can help you out.

I really would like the 18" Q but if i cant get the box for it, i will settle for the 15"

why do you wish to have an 18 anyhow?

if i build my own box am i risking quality?

Probably the other way around. Putting a sub in a generic box is a very, very bad idea.

Well lets start from the beginning, let us know if you AT LEAST have the following tools-

Tape Measure

Straight Edge

Pencil

Jigsaw or Router

Skilsaw or table saw

Power Drill

IF you got at least those, then the build will be easy since you got the right tools to get the job done.

Saw horses or any other way of cutting MDF is also a must.

If you have the minimum tools, then we can help you for sure.
