Rockford Fosgate T3002

Recommended Posts

First off, I bought this amp cause I just wanted to see if it really lived up to the power ratings that I saw on birthsheets and on the rated vs actual power site. I got it used for $90 shipped. (Got a great deal on it) My first impression of this amp when I took it out of the box was, wow its almost as big as my T10001bd, very heavy and solid. I hooked it up to a pair of 10's in my F150. I have had several amps in my truck JL audio, planet audio, Zapco, and a couple other I can remember off hand. Going through my music ranging from hard rock to rap, this amp blew me away. It has close to the SQ of the Zapco (probably cause its an ab class and not d class like the other amps I have had on the subs) and the power output of the Planet audio bb1350.1. It stays cool even in the 115 degree heat here in Nor Cal, and hasn't shut down yet even when pushed hard. The one negative is that like my T10001bd the cover rattles with the bass notes. But thanks to some guys here on the forum, I have gotten some tips on how to fix that. It does draw a bit of power, but that is to be expected for ab class amp putting out close to 900 watts. (according to the rockford website) For an amp that is rated at 50 watts per channel, this is an incredible value. I will re-review this amp in a couple of weeks cause I want to hear how it sounds on my mids and highs. But as for sub duty, this is a definite thumbs up. :jump:

rated power:

50 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms

150 watts x 2 @ 1 ohm

300 watts x1 @ 2 ohms

average actual power:

223 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms

346 watts x 2 @ 1 ohm

838 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms

I was looking to grab a T4004 as a temporary glorified 3 channel, but decided to go back to ZED and get the 6 channel and go active from the get go. But yes, the "T" line seems to have countless happy owners. :)

I just got this amp myself and will be installing it soon. But from the looks of it, and by the numbers, I'm already happy.

One quick question though, if anyone knows..

Below is the birthsheet and it says "923 Total RMS Watts @ 1 Ohm". That's the power of both channels, left plus right, @ 1 Ohm right? Well, I'd like to know, is that the same power output if I bridge the amp with 2 Ohms?

The 703 watts is the bridged 2 ohm rating.

That's what I thought at first, but I found out that "923 Total RMS Watts @ 1 Ohm" means the total of both channels L and R at 1 Ohm in stereo, which is the same as 2 Ohms Bridged.

"703 Total RMS Watts @ 2 Ohms" means both left and right channels @ 2 Ohms stereo, OR the equivalent of 4 Ohms Bridged.

;)

This was the response I got from RFTech:

Wil:

Yes it does. Since that amp will not do a 1 ohm bridged load, it is both channels ran at 1 ohm stereo. 1 ohm stereo is the same as 2 ohm bridged for power.

Customer (Wil) - 07/24/2008 06:55 AM Attached is a picture of my T3002's PVC/birthsheet. I'd just like to know if "923 Total RMS Watts @ 1Ohm, all channels combined" means the same thing as 923 Total RMS Watts @ 2 Ohms Bridged? Thanks.

I've got a P3002 that I got used for a hundred bucks. Right now I've got it hooked to a pair of Memphis twelves at one ohm on one channel. I know its not stable at one ohm, but it works fine unless you turn the bass knob over 3/4 then it will cut off. When my BTL 18 gets here my new T1500 will be taking over sub duty and I'm going to use the P3002 on some RE XXX 6.5 components. That works out great since the components are 2 ohm, and the link you gave says the P3002 will put out 179 per channel.
