the sub needs to be the width of the vent away from the back wall or it can effect power handling due to poor air flow. if it is touching you might pop the dust cap off from to much pressure behind it

I have ran RE XXX and an Adire Tumult and 1st gen (pre 94' with forced cooling) JBL GTI 18" subs (massive Xmax, small vent, high motor vent air velocity, super high with the JBL) with thier motors about 1-2" from the back enclosure wall with "0" negative effects.

You will get a bunch of answers about this, most will just be "gut feeling" from people and not based on much more.

Bottom line is, give it an inch or so and it will b fine...

i agree the 1 inch or so should be fine most vent holes on bottom of magnet are about 1 inch some larger, but it is there for a reason mostly cooling, as long as there is decent airflow between the box and vent it should be fine

inch is fine. I'd pretty much listen to anything 95Honda has to say.

Even less than an inch is okay, the pole vent doesn't need that much room to breath. As with anything there are exceptions so actually making your question specific instead of general would get you much better answers.
