Car suggestions for sound pressure

Recommended Posts

The Volvo crapped out this weekend, coming back home. Drivetrain troubles which we probably can't fix because of the age and scarseness (sp?) of parts for the car :(

Turning it into a trailer queen would kill all the fun but in case we won't find anything, that's what we will have to do.

Right now I'm looking for suggestions on a euro-car that can do well in spl. Also, I'm not thinking about a burp-only car. We could play "music" in the Volvo and quickly tune it for burps.

Not going to wall anything untill we break into the 150's. We want to stick to one 18 (my friends all compete in smaller classes so I don't want to run against them) so we need a bit of space.

Fiat Panda was one of the cars I thought about but I'm open to any suggestions.

basically anything small and hatchback, like the Honda CRX. I don't know all the euro cars, so I just put that in as an example.

yeah... a old buddy in H.S. had a crx, and two soundstream spl 8"s.... that woulda made most dual 12"s and even 15"s run in fear...

Old 500's are expensive outside the country. Need to check out the local market on saturday :D

I wonder if a Trabant will withstand 145+.

Old mini on the other hand would be kickass.

Except the panda, I think all of these cars have the same effect as the Volvo...laughter...untill it's time to meter.

Keep the suggestions coming :D

What about a Lada Niva? Many people use them in New Zealand and some in Australia, since we cant access Panda's. Fair bit of room too if you decide to put a wall in it.

I remember seeing a couple "abandoned" Panda's around town...I'm going to check those out next week, maybe we get lucky :D

There is anothe local option, very similar to the Niva but I'm not sure how it will hold up to abuse.

You could get a decent, running condition, Ford K for under 1000 Euros.

I'd just be wondering about electrical... The alt on those is about the size of an beer can....

Run 2 or 3 big ass batteries, burp once and rev the chit out of the car for 2-3 minutes before you burp again... LOL...

I wouldn't worry about the car falling apart, I did a trunk wall in a POS Nissan Sentra with the same XXX18 you have and pushed 150 without too many issues. I just had to silicone the wing windows in the back shut because the latches wouldn't hold good enough... If something breaks, then just glue it or weld it back in place....

We didn't manage to go over 145.8 in testing...

Tried straping the rear doors together only to loose .5

I'll call you next week (I'm going to be away all weekend) to talk a little about the tests...if that's ok with you :P

I like the Ford or Honda idea. Both cheap to own, run, insure.
