Subaru Forester install

Recommended Posts

Hello to all!

This is my first post and I'd like to get some info (please). I've a 2007 Subaru Forester that I plan on having a system installed and have some questions concerning the install. The system will consist of Tru amps, t03-250.2 (for sub) & t03-4.150 (for front tweets & mids). HU will be Clarion DRZ-9255. The speaks will be either Hybrid Audio Referernce or Seas Reference. Anyway, here are the questions & pardon me, I know only enough about installs to start a fire.

1-Are the DRZ-9255 crossovers active & do I need outbord crossovers?

2-Is there such a thing as a sub that can/will compliment the seas or Hybrid drivers?

3-I've only 2 inches of clearance for the mid drivers they can be spaced an inch but still very tight, is this problematic?

4-My installer says the speaker wire quality is not an issue. Any thoughts?

Finally, I've heard that this vehicle is a bear to get good SQ. Can this mean that my equipment selection is overkill?

That's all I can think of at the moment, any/all help is greatly appreciated.

THX in advance,

Sam

Hey Sam,

I will try to tackle a few of those questions. #2; any quality sub woofer in the correct enclosure that is not over powering the front stage will blend well. I would suggest a 10" or so driver that falls with in your budget and we can help from there. #4; this is an interesting issue because there are a few people that believe in the esoteric level of cables and wire and feel it makes a difference in sound and clarity. My experience is stay away from the ultra cheap stuff and you will be fine. As for your vehicle, I did drive one (well older then your's) and it is a solid car, but I feel a little sound deadening would help. Especially if you are going to use the equipment you plan on. Maybe in the range of 60^2 foot of Second Skin or RAAMAT to cover the doors and rear hatch would be a great start.

Sam,

Not quite sure where you are putting these drivers, it is my understanding that the doors on the subbies are hard to fit anything of depth in requiring a rather large build out.

The Clarion is active capable.

Sub integration with what you are buying will be easy.

Not sure I understand what you mean by 2" clearance

Wire is indeed pretty much wire

Denim & M5,

Thank You Very Much for the replies! , M5 , I meant to say that I only have 2"'s of mounting depth to work with but I think I can make it work with 1" spacers and along with both of your input it's time to order some more stuff & get it all put in. Man this oem Forester system is one notch better than a mono 5x7 in a metal dash top. I'm looking forward to hearing the new install. Again, THANKS.

Sam in the U.P.

Before doing anything, I'd really see what you can fit.

Are you doing a 3 way setup or a 2 way (+sub)?

Good to see a fellow forester driver. If you go onto the main subaru forester board there are a few audio junkies on there that know what will fit and what doesn't as far a depth goes. For speakers you will need spacers both front a rear for almost anything. There are at least 2 different companies I know of that make some. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links on this board.

As far as sound goes, I mostly do spl with mine, but I can tell you it really keeps the sound in considering I have done no deadening, which is usually really good when it comes to SQ.
