Fi Audio Choices and what would be need to buy with?

Hey guys,

Im brand new to this forum and hope to be around here for awhile. Now im getting a car very soon and i love sound!

So now i need your advice. I dont want to spend as much as the BTL and dont need THAT much power and the amps would cost more.

So i would really love to just get the SSD if i knew there wasnt a huge difference between it then the BL. I dont want the Q as there the same price as the BL.. Know which would you get and what amps would be the best for the price.

Also i was thinking 2 12's or 2 15's. I have a Infiniti 1999 Qx4. And im pretty sure im going to get the SSD. NOW could/would i be able to get a 2 channel amp? So i would only have one amp? FILL ME WITH links etc. Im a bit confused on what amps i can/cannot get. Also how are Hifonics they are less expensive than rockford fosgate

You seem a little all over the place with your goals with subwoofer (why not the Q?). As for the amp, you should definately take advantage of the Sundown sale on the saz1500d, it would be great to power one fully loaded bl or 2 ssd. Also, not many people will recommend getting a hifonics brutus series amp in these forums, though some beg to differ...Look around the ssa forums in the amp section and you can answer your own question on that one.

The Q is a better low end monster and is a very good sq sub.

The Bl is a street pounder, it gives up bottom end (sub 35 hz) for more punch in the 40-60 hz range (most rap material).

Ok.. i think i rather have the BL. BUT WHAT IS THE real difference bettween the Q/BL and the SSD? Is it huge or small. 200 RMS only difference is that huge? Im good on amps now but what type of dash would i get and what type of speakers would you get? I have a 1999 Infiniti QX4

Try stating your overall budget for your sub then your amp, then state your goals (competition, daily driver, listen to rap, listen to opera....). Ok... im trying to keep the project as cheap as possible though i dont know everything about car audio. First i would spend 500 on subs and 500 on an amp(s). I dont have a idea how much the front and rear speakers would cost havent looked into them. Listen to rap and want to be bumpin down the street turnin heads.

Questions

What amp(s) should i get that is in my budget for 2 12's or 15's? Just been lookin at US AMPS AND POWER ACOUSTIK are they good?

What type of power will i need for the front and rear speakers aswell tweeters?

Which Fi subs( as i would rather go cheaper and get the SSD if the difference is small)?

What type of rears and front speakers should i get with the Fi subs?

Where do the amps go in my Infiniti QX4?

What type of enclosure for the subs (which i would be able to remove as i do need the trunk)?

ok let me break it down for you

SSD - current base model (besides the X which idk if they sell anymore). gets sorta loud, sounds sorta ok.

Q - Sound Quality line. should get louder than the SSD, and sound much much better. also plays the lowest notes of all the Fi drivers, depending on application.

BL - not quite as SPL (volume) oriented as the BTL, but definately not as SQ (sound quality) oriented as the q. almost definately will not reach down to hit the lows that the q will, but has more potential to be much louder in the right application

BTL - all out SPL... IMO it doesnt sound quite like crap but its close. if your buying a BTL odds are you dont really care though, all you care about is getting LOUD.

SPL scale, least to greatest, depending on the right application:

SSD - Q - BL - BTL

SQ scale, least to greateds, again depending on application:

BTL - BL - SSD - Q

(not really sure if the SSD belongs in front of the BL or not, they may be interchangeable but IDK)

"hittin the lows" scale, least capable to most capable, once again all depends on the application

BTL - BL - SSD - Q

Dont know about that company. Sorry. The price point for that many watts is telling me it sucks. I would go with kicker you wont spend a ton.

Are you planning on upgrading your electrical? No offense but you sound like a total noob. If I were you id probably try a single 15 inch Q or SSD for your first setup.

Get the Kicker PDK0 kit. Comes with a run of 0 gauge wire to run from your battery to the trunk. Also comes with two distros so you can hook up two amps to it. Its the best deal for a complete kit

Or you can worry about speakers first but your sort of in the wrong forum to discuss that. For starters, you say you listen to rap and want to turn heads so I think you should stick to the bl. Now go measure the dimensions of your trunk and we can work on how big of a sub to put back there (your sub budget cant' get your 2 subs).

i made the assumption that you got ssd'd with some options which would put you near or over your 500$ budget. poeple hate against the hifonics brutus series because apparently they dont do anything near rated power.say they say they do like 1500 at 1 ohm people actually tested them at like 1300rms which is a piss off (rms figure were just an example), others say they are really unreliable and break all the time. if you got some walmart subwoofer i would recommend a budget amp like hifonics. but your planning to buy some really good subs so just do yourself a favor and save up and buy a good brand amp like sundown, kicker etc... it's like wearing a versace suit with sneakers...you'll just end up looking like a jack@ss.

You can get two of them but everything gets more complicated if you do. You are going to need a pretty big box for 2 of them as well. What kind of car do you drive?

Area where the sub is pictured in that car is from the tire bump to other bump is 37" and 15" fromt the end of the tire straightness.

Ahh ok so you have plenty of space 2 wont be a problem

You need to decide on what subs you want. My vote is for 2 15's.

Now you need to decide if you want to SSDs which will come to about $430

Or two Qs which will come out to about $520

If I were you id forget BLs the Q is the way to go imo. Once you decide let us know and we can help you pick an amp out
