Electrically safe?

Recommended Posts

The plan is to run SAZ-1500D on 2 Fi Q15's and 2 SAX-100.4's. A buddy of mine that's an installer at a stereo shop in the area says that running those amps will be fine on my stock 160A alternator if I use a Kinetik 2400 as my starting battery and add a second 2400 as reserve. Is this an accurate statement, or is my buddy gonna inadvertantly kill my alternator? Also will it even be worth it? Cuz even if it works and doesn't hurt anything, will my voltage stay high enough to get rated power?

What is the coil configuration of your Q 15's?

It should be fine, I used to run a saz-1500d and an eclipse ea4000 off of a 80 amp alt and factory battery.

Two 1000s isn't really that much more current draw.

In any event... for a music playing system you will be fine. You will strain the 160-amp alternator if you play all three amps at full output constantly, but most likely you won't be doing that :)

if I do two 1000s there will be 4 amps. I'm also running two sax-100.4's. If all that's too much of a strain I may just shake things up a lil' bit and run a single 1000d on an 18" Q with the pair of 100.4's. This is a non-trunk vehicle (Dodge Magnum) so it's gonna be plenty loud for a daily driver....It's just unfortunate that there aren't any alternators made for my vehicle yet because my ideal setup is two 18BL's on a 3000d! :neil:

If you are reasonable with the system and don't try to play it at 100% output for hours one end you will be just fine with a single 1500D or two 1000Ds for bass.

Just pay attention to the voltage, if its dropping under 11 turn it down for a while.

why are you running a pair of 100.4s?

why are you running a pair of 100.4s?

i was gonna do 6.5 components in the front doors(that's two channels), 8 inch midbass speakers in rear(two channels), 4" components in dash (two channels), tweets in A-pillars (two channels)..... if i'm all screwed up please fix me because I'm still attempting to learn how to optimize mids/highs/midrange.....i just wanted to ensure that my mid/high frequencies wouldn't be drowned out by my low end.
