Speaker help!

Hey guys i just installed my new Alpine CDA-9886 deck and a pair of Infinity Kappa components and they just are not loud by any means i have set my gains on the 2 channel amp running them (MTX 502X). Now i am really confused the amp's birthsheet said it was rated at 69 watts rms per channel and my factory speakers in the back are louder. Any input would help thanks in advance. Brian

Run em off deck power. If there louder, something is up with you amp. If they are the same, buy some better components.

Oh, and make sure your fader isnt to the back

well actually i had them off of deck power before cause the 1st mtx amp went bad (went into thermal) and they were a little louder but they sounded pretty horrible aka no midbass just not as crisp as before so now i have no idea what to do

I'm willing to bet that your settings on your amp are messed up (ie crossovers).

High pass lets the high frequencies through and low pass lets the low frequencies through.

-I would turn all of the low pass x-overs all of the way clockwise (as high as they will go) and all of the high pass x-overs counter-clockwise (to the lowest frequency they will go). Your component set has passive crossovers.

Next I would check the phasing. Take the left channel rca's and (while the system is off) swap (red and white, not with the right channel rca's) them and see if it gets louder.

If none of this works, I would be looking for a new quality amp.
