securing box on seat?

Recommended Posts

I've searched, and all the topics i've found are for trunks, which you can bolt, or use velcro. My box will be taking up 2 of the 3 rear seats, and i can't bolt it, and i also don't think i can velcro without ruining the seats. I was thinking L brackets, but i need something more flexible than that to make it to the rear panel of the truck cab.

Suggestions?

Why can't you bolt it, it is a really, really bad idea to not have it super secure. Considering the weight of a box I wouldn't put it in if you can't bolt it down.

Well i can't bolt it into a cushioned seat, can i? that wouldn't be secure at all. This is a '99 ram 1500 quad cab. For some reason, the split rear bench seat doesn't come with the 1999s. Shame, eh?

Take the seat out and bolt it to the floor.

I'd love to. I suggested it to the parents, and for some reason having 1 seat in the back makes a huge difference to them. They don't like the idea, not at all haha.

Edit: ///M5, i understand that bolting is the surest and safest way to do it, and i'm not trying to say otherwise, but i have to be reasonable (for now haha), and deal with what i can do.

I would suggest this too. It might not be the most visually appealing method, but strapping should keep it in place.

Yeah, by putting personal safety ahead of having loud bass.

Simple choice if you ask me.

Yeah i think i like this idea, and if i strap it from the back or bottom (which are the only two that would help) no one would be able to see the straps anyways.

I made this topic for that reason... I'm not putting bass in front of mine or anyone else's life. I have two or three days before the final steps of putting it in, and i wanted to have a solid idea by tonight or tommorow so i could go into town and buy the supplies for it. I doubt i'm the first person to not bolt a box...

Plus, if i didn't secure it, i'd hit my brakes hard one time and my sub goes into the front passenger seat and says bye bye :)

So why not build a box that doesn't require you to ghetto-fy anything?

I have a box in my 1995 single cab ram 1500 it does move any were. But the box is huge you have to take the seats out to get it out

Do a custom center console in the back seat and lose functin of one seat? Or if you need the airspace run it right up onto the seat and make a nice cupholder/armrest or amp rack out of it ...

Either way ... just be careful with it. As you already know that is a pretty expensive investment.

another suggestion would be to build brackets that use the seat-belt bolts from the seats the box will be occupying.
