10 Inch Icon or RL-I

Recommended Posts

My friend is finishing up his system and is in the market to buy a 10 inch subwoofer. He is going to run it sealed and we have narrowed the selection down the Icon or the RL-I. We decided to run it off a sundown 100.2 bridged and from what i have heard i believe it puts out about 500 watts at 4 ohms. Can it be run at 2 ohms? Also in terms of SQ does the RL-I take it?

both are excellent drivers. in a sealed application, i would lean towrds the rl-i, from my experience. though you wouldn't be hurt by running either or.

like most a/b amps, i'm sure the sundown is only stable at 4 ohm mono. might run at 2, but dunno if jake will warranty it, lol.

Jacob stated in another thread that he tested a 100.4(? may have been the .2) bridged at 2 ohms. It ran for a month or two than finally let out the magic smoke.

Haha i see well i wouldnt want to run something knowing i am going to hurt it in the long run. The RL-I says 300rms but i feel that is very conservative so i feel the 100.2 would be a good match up. I would have to get the single 4 ohm bc the duel 4 ohms can only be ran at 2ohm or 8 ohms in a single setup unless i am mistaken?

The RL-i 10 and 100.2 is a great match up.
