Box design verification

Recommended Posts

I have modeled up a box for a 12" Fi.SSD

Now I'd just some of you box builders to just verify what I've done.

And let me know if its good or not

Here is a pic since they're worth 1000 words:

Port and Sub displacement has been accounted for.

Where would be the best location on the port side to place the sub?

I dont quite understand port loading and such.

Thanks in advance

It looks good. If it were me, the front baffle would be an outside piece, and I would put the sub about 5" away from the port wall.

Something like this?

I will also round off the edges of the port and 45's in all the corners

sweet, so everything is good to go then?

everything matches up to what I want?

out of curiousity, why do i want the sub to be closer to the port opening on the front?

does it have something to do with port loading?

if it does, could someone point me in the right direction to understanding this phenomena?

thanks

This box is for a 93 civic coupe.

How does it sound? and does it loud?

I'm thinking the lower tuning will improve the sq and get lower

We currently have the sub in a 2ft^3 @ 36 hz, but he's wants something

that fits a little better and uses the trunk better

Built the box. I beleive that the tuning is lower than we had calculated.

Output is fantasic.

I'm very impressed with the FI.SSD's output, clarity, and build quality.

I'm looking forward to getting the BTL's for myself.

TL results - 139.31dB @ 36hz, 138.53dB with music

Not bad at all for a single 12 with only 600watts RMS to it.
