Do these Box Dimensions sound good?

Recommended Posts

Bought a BTL 18.

area in the trunk is tight for now... I would really like my Sub and port facing up. but if that isnt possible or not good then i will settle fot the sub facing up and the port wherever it must be.

i plan to use 1" think wood i guess (not sure if thats good enough or what kind to even get) so my dimensions for the box will have to be

D: 25"

H: 19"

W: 27"

i subtracted the inch of wood from this and comes to obviosly

D: 24"

H: 18"

W: 26"

I entered this into a volume calculator on some website and it told me that this was 6.5 cubic feet.

My question is, is this correct? and if not what is the true cubic feet of these... im pretty good at math but i couldnt find a formula for this anywhere...except for these calculators.

also i went on another calculator for Port area.... this looks kind of odd to me aswell.

i asked it for 35hz (which i hopes fits my listening style, because this is my first ported box, and i like my lows to smash but i still enjoy the highs... lows more ofcourse though)

I gave it the measurements of 20" H x 3" D and it told me that i would need the port to be 13.91" deep... is this correct as well, if not what is???? and i should be fine just going with 14" rite?

Sorry i am only 17 and still new to car audio, i understand the basics but all this is still kind of complicated to me. please give me some assistance

Thanks in advance!

those dimensions are wrong...if you subtract an inch for wood displacement...you'll have to subtract it from both sides, being as there is wood on each side. 1" wood is fine to use (use MDF or plywood), but around where i live i cant find any 1" wood. if that's also the case with you, using 3/4" wood will be fine. just make sure it's braced to help prevent any box vibrations there may be.

PM me if you'd like more help on the box. i'm waitin on my transfer cable to come in the mail to transfer all my files from my old PC to my new one. and then i'll be able to use my tuning calculator and help you more on box size and tuning and all that.
