how low of hertz can a 12 q produce

ok so i was thinking of either getting 1 or 2 fi q 12's or 1 or 2 fi q 15's because i want a little more sq, but i like listening to rap sometimes and i was wondering how low a q 12 can play

I have yet to come across any mainstream rap that had frequencies in the sub 30hz range. I almost find it comical that so many people find 30 hz to be low. Have you ever heard some classical with pipe organs.

They will play any rap note in the right box, but as stated above rap is far from low.

well i listen to rock, metal, classical, blues, and jazz too, but what would be a good frequency to tune the port to so that i can get the lows pretty good but still pick up some high bass efficiently, or would 15"s hit with the same accuracy than 12"s?

Lows & hit are the opposite nearly when it comes to tuning...

I have a rap song that hits 20 hz. so it's not impossible.

However with your musical tastes and all I might suggest you go sealed. If you want to try ported, I'd think 30 hz or so. tuning lower will give it better SQ and will play 30-40 hz louder, which is considered low for most music.

by hit i mean would it be possible to get 15"s to be as accurate as 12"s

i believe you would put them in a smaller box.

Correct me if i'm wrong but if you had a 15 that was recommended to be put in 3-5cubes NET, putting it in 3 cubes would make it sound "tighter" as you would put it.

I know the group delay decreases the smaller you go.

I really don't know much about audio, but for whats it worth, I put my Q10 in a 1.4ft^3 box that was tuned to 28hz and it played everything I wanted it to. I mostly listen to rock and ska/reggae and WOW. I impressed alot of people because I would play their favorite song that they had heard a million times and they could acctually hear the low bass lines. and by low I mean like 29hz... I pretty sure thats what most bass guitars open string is about at. If I were you I'd tune the box to somewhere in the 28-30 range.

"High bass" should be the domain of the midbass drivers, not the subwoofers.

Open string (E) on a bass guitar is 41Hz. Not very low at all, but definitely a freq range that lesser subs struggle with. Most subs suck at reproducing bass guitar correctly and most systems lack the proper midbass to help them out.
