w3 vs type r

Recommended Posts

Not very well, they are completely different subs. Personally at the price they are at I wouldn't buy either.

how do type r s compare to w3s

The w3's have much better sound quality, but the type r's get whole lot louder.

SIs there any subs comparable in their price range that can get loud and sound good too?

I've never had a type r, but I did own a 12w3 and it did sound pretty good, and it got decently loud, but I upgraded to a 12" rlp which definitely sounded better and got louder...

If this wasn't the question of every day about 5 years ago I don't know what was......

But I don't have experience with the new versions of either model. How much do they cost? That will give us a better estimate of what's in a comparable price range.

About $250 for 2 12" Type Rs and about $300 for 2 12" W3s
