subwoofer question

Recommended Posts

i let go of the 4 18 idea and and decided to go more practical. i am in the market to buy a sundown 3000 or maybe and mtx 92001. i want to use either 2 15 inch subs or 2 18 inch subs if i can fit them in my trunk with adequate airspace. the subs i have been looking at are the orion hcca's. are these subs any good? btl's fully loaded are also looking good but i am not sure exactly which sub to buy since i have never heard any of them play in my application.

my question is using a ported box in the trunk of a 04 towncar, which sub and amp combination would give me the best impact. i am more concerned with impact and deepness of the bass. if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great. i just dont wanna be disappointed again with what i buy again (kicker). for my sub amp combo i dont wanna spend more them 2000. thanks

How much space do you really have in the town car? Ported boxes for Dual 18's or Dual 15's are quite large.

i will be working with about 10 cub. ft. dont wanna go any larger then that. i know 2 18's is probably out of the picture. but after big john was talkin all that chit about his tc it gave me some hope. so now guess what? i wanna be like him and do hair tricks! lol. just lead me i the right direction.. money really isnt an issue....as long as it isnt more then 2000.

to do the build the right way you will need more then 2k.... unless... you already have an h/o alt.. extra cells and 0 gauge and the big three already done...

you can run two 18's in a ported box in a towncar truck but i have only seen it with an up fire and a back fire port... and people never seem to be happy... but it is very close.. you will have to pre plan it big time... you will need to plan spots to but your amps and cells...

i take up most of my room. but there is some left

i would do two monster nightshade 15's or even two btl 15's with 5k of power...

but then again your over 2 grand in funds unless you have your charging system right.

as a matter of fact i dont. lol. i can upload some pics and let u see. the price really wont be a problem as long as i am happy with my results. when i finally get my pics uploaded i will let u know. but it isnt anytrhing special. i have a 2004 all white tc and a 93 blue tc on 24's. the 93 was the one i was tryna throw all them subs in. i think that i will still put maybe 4 18 or 4 15's in that car. but the one i just bought has to be right and i dont wanna be disappointed. but whatever slim. i am a grown ass man. say what i u have to say. i am not sensitive.lol. but i really dont wanna hear that nightshade point. really dont know much about them.

the only pic or vid of ur car was the one showing ur setup. no vids at all. where are they?

just look out for me. i said b4 2000 is for my sub and amp combo. i am aware of the upgrades needed to run the power i am prepared to spend the money for that as well: so just throw some ideas my way. i am learning slowly but surely. soon i will to be able to do hairtricks thru my plush leather seats. just holla at me.

I've heard pretty good things about HCCAs. I think they have more SQ than when they originally came out.

The sense I'm getting is that you care more about SPL than SQ, is that right? Do you know what you want to tune your ported box to? It might help us determine what subs you might like. It also seems that you are skeptical about these internet manufacturers. Could you tell us what you would be comfortable with? Does it need to be something sold in a shop near you so that you can go listen to it before you buy? If that's the case, could you tell us what brands are sold around you?

not really skeptical but i just dont wanna buy something to me that wont sound much different from the kicker cvx's i had b4. i am open to all opinions and i will buy the best sub for me. sq i am guessing has something to do with the clarity of the sub? i am guessing.

i dont know what i will be tuning to. probably low 30's. and to be honest no one has any quality subs in stock. they always need to be ordered so i used utube and this forum and a platform to make my decision.

just to make sure what is sq?

sound quality

Honestly watching videos on youtube is probably the worst thing to base your opinion on. Watching them excurt doesn't really show anything, and oftentimes the loudness easily overbears the mic on the camera and you don't get a real picture of how it sounds. I'd base my opinion much more on the input of the members on this forum.

I'd never buy kicker subs, so I think pretty much anything is better than them.

ok so if u compared hcca's to btl's (15's) in the correct enclosure which sub would u say would have the most impact (how hard it hits) and better overall performance?
