Hey everyone, i have 2 T10001's powering 4 15" cvr's and im looking into a more reliable subwoofer that will belt out the lows a little bit better.

I have narrowed it down to 2 18" Bl's with the cooling option(as i heard its neccesary)

Question...

i have 46L 27T and 19D to work with, however i must put a divider in because i will be running 2 amps, 1 per woofer(i dont want to blow one due to mechanical errors)

So if i cut that in half i get 4.679 cubes with the port 22.25x2.75 per chamber. 35hz 4.679 without woofer displacement.

Is this giong to be sufficient enough because i know it says 5-10 cubes for this woofer. Im really looking to keep the same output as my cvrs but hit the lows alot harder and not get smelly while doing it.

I appreciate the help and i cant wait to get busy on this install.

Are you stuck with the 18's for a certain reason? I'd say put in the 15" BL's. You'll get more output from them in a good box then 18's in a to tiny of a box.

If you have to stick with the 18's though I guess just put in some polyfill or something to try n' squeeze everything out of them you can.

No im not stuck with the 18's but seeing as i have 4 15's now i dont want to downgrade to two with the same power.

and how would polyfill work in ported boxes? i thought that stuff was crap.

Im using the RE audio box builder for my plans because i dont have anything else to go by.

As I understand it, polyfill works by making the subwoofer think its in a larger box then it really is. But you can only put a certain amount of it in.

Did you have 4 15's in the previous box??

why would the cooling option be necessary? wouldn't they put it on all of the woofers if it really was? Many, many woofers before this one survived without it.

I don't know why you think you have to go to 18s just because you're only using 2 and your previous setup used 4 15's. 2 great 15s can easily sound better and/or be louder than 4 average 15s. and besides, if the BL's have twice as much xmax as the cvrs then you aren't losing any displacement anyways. I don't know if they do, I'm just saying. and that's not to mention other differences that could increase efficiency on the BL or any other aspect of the sound.

are those amps strappable? if so then you can just wire the subs together to both amps and not worry about a divider.

i believe they are strappable but i do not have a bd sync cable... im just using the Master Slave feature on the amps via RCA. So i set the gain to one amp and it sets it for both.. freq and bass boost as well.

I know the other kid is doing 2 18's with about 5 cubes and thats not even with port displ. so im sure i can squeeze the extra .4 cubes per box. I want to have a wall with the ports on top. I will get a pic in sketchup of what i want to do and what vehicle it is going in.

In the meantime, how much port area should i do for a daily groundpounder? I was thinking 33-36-hz

ok i managed to get more space... 5.3 cubes per chamber including port displacement
