Giant telescope

I found this quite fascinating. For those that dont want to read the article, basically a giant telescope was constructed from London to New York. People on both sides were able to see one another at different times of day.....

No, it's an HD video simulation of someone's fantasy from (early 1900's?) ... I didn't read the link, but I know what you're talking about and it's just an art concept. Called a Telectroscope, right?

It uses camcorders and streams videos from each side. If they could make a tunnel from London to New York, they wouldn't do it for a "Telectroscope".

Yeah, there's nothing "constructed" between NY and London in this article unless you count the fiber optic internet cables or satellite links transmitting a signal that anyone here could duplicate in their own home. It's an art project sponsored by the same people who did that Sultan's elephant thing... lemme find it.. brb ..

It's not a real telescope between NY and London anymore than that's a real elephant :-)

I'll admit that if either variety of elephant stepped on you, it wouldn't matter if it were real or not.
