SAE-1000D Questions

Recommended Posts

Another option...

Continuing the current SAE-1000D board as an SAZ-1000D with accompanying upgrades to make it an SAZ class amp (and, of course, the SAZ case).

Then coming out with the SAE-800D model to fill in the SAE line at that power level.

That way the SAZ line has a smaller sub amp, people that want the small foot-print still get it, and I also have the less expensive model available for those that don't care about the size.

Good Idea.

YES!!!!

Like the others have said, that is a great solution to the problem, would keep a very well rounded SAZ line, a well rounded SAE line and a good start with the NS line, I think it is the ideal solution to the problem.

I like the idea because there are plenty of people who have an SAX-100.2 or 100.4 and want a matching mono amp, but don't need the brute force power or have the space for the 1500D.

Thats what I ran into, don't get me wrong, the SAE-1000D is an awesome amp, but I am not a huge fan of the looks, the SAZ and SAX lines are just so much sexier.

If I am understanding you correctly, the mono amp line up would shift to:

SAZ-1000D ~ SAZ-2000D ~ SAZ-3000D

??NS-4000D??

SAE-800D ~ SAE-1200D

If so, I think that would be a great idea!

Yep, thats the plan.

May even do an SAE-500D later on for the even lower powered crowd.

Would the new SAZ-1000D be strappable with the old SAE-1000D? I am assuming no since you would more than likely be changing transistors to make it a SAZ model and stable at .5 ohms, but figured I would ask.

Seems that this is a popular idea so far

I think you have found a winner!

It actually would be since the basic board would be the same - one would just have to adjust the amp within the limits of the SAE amp connected.

Oh hell yea!! I am so for you doing this it isn't even funny!

I personally would shift to a combo of SAE-50.4 and SAE-800D, but I know the 50.4 is on the back burner, so the next logical option would be the SAX-100.4 and SAZ-1000D (and if it preformed like the 1500D, as in stability and power output and reliability, all the while having a small foot print) that would be a heck of a combo.

Side note: I was going to mention, if you had any totally fried SAX or SAZ series amps, I am sure, if you sawed the heat sink into 3 sections, people would buy them as a bridge like the old RF's. :)

I have some ideas for making link pieces sometime next year - perhaps even adding optional fan cooling channeled through the fins under the face of the amps.

Just made a post pertaining about this before I saw this one

Could be interesting
