Tips for building good boxes

Hey guys! I did a bit of reasearch but couldn't find a good topic about this. What do you guys reccomend for some good box building tips for the best box possible? Not like designs so much (Although if you wanted to post set-ups such as like...Explorer, sub up port back (as an example) that might be helpful to some), but things to do in the box.

Things like:

Rounding the port edges to flairs

45 degree angles in the corners for standing waves

placing the subwoofer so its at the back of the port length

where to add braces so that turbulence is minimized (or using rod threads or your favorites)

those were a few I could think of as example and I'm not even sure if they're all correct, but hopefully it will give you an idea of the tips i'm looking for!

Thanks for all the input!! Please correct any of the above if they are wrong. The placing subwoofer at back of port is one i'm not sure about, but I think i saw it somewhere.

I doubt you'll have much, if any problems with standing waves in a subwoofer enclosure.

or use an oil based emraled paint...

round every corner possible ( inside the box)

the goal is to move air out the box as quickly as possible

How does port area figure into that, as far as when is a port area too large and how do you tell? like for purposes of daily boxes and pure spl boxes?

Pre drill and countersink all screw holes.

Invest in a router, spiral upcuting bit, flush trim, roundover bits and a circle cutting jig.

Don't be cheap with the glue.

Time and patience are the two biggest factors in building a good box, along with a good design of course.

Yeah, I'd say I've got some tips I was looking for! Thanks for finidng that old post for me. Weird it didn't come up when I searched.

I think i'll just stick with a pretty standard box...45 degree angles in corners, probably do all thread bracing, and then just take my router and round off the port and side edges for a good look and functionality. seems to be a good place to start!
