Nightshade owners

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any of you guys had posted up a comprehensive review of the nightshade?? I've searched the forum a bit but haven't found much info on it other then its loud!! I was looking for any reviews in like the daily driving aspect of it/how it sounds/comparable subs/things along those lines.

Hoping to see a good review up if you guys could!! Unless I missed something when I was searching through, but I couldn't find a full product review on it! So far things look good, but I was just hoping to see a bit more details about the subs listening style and how it sounded in daily driving.

Well mine ran at 1500 watts got loud and low. As loud and as low as 2 15" BLs @ 3000watts. Now the BLs were starved, and my Nightshade has a rather large box. But what really shocked me was how accurate and how clean it sounded. Probally the nicest sounding sub since my Eclipse TI.. but I'm still yet to hear a sub that sounded better than that!

Ahh perfect, yea, thats the kind of information I've been looking at. Currently I have an 18" BL @ 35Hz running off 1000-1100ish watts and am looking at replacing it with a 15" Nightshade off a SAZ-1500 in about a 4cu ft @ 32Hz maybe. Trying to feel out the differences in SPL and clarity of the subs in comparison. Good to see you comparing it to some BL's! Does this thing run off 1500 watts well? I see that its rated at it...but will this get it to maximum performance? or do you really need some more power to make it perform well?

yeah, I saw that post and i was amazed to say the least lol But I didn't see much in there about the sound quality factor. I guess giving you an erection though I should assume its overall a pretty clean sounding sub huh ;) haha

What sub would you compare this to 80INCHES?? Do you have it in the sealed still? or ported now?

I'd say if you have 1500 watts in a good size box you should be pretty good. I could see it doing mid 140s pretty easily off 1500watts. If I didn't have friends with SUVs I wouldn't want to give it more power lol, but i try to keep up =p

well for now it'll be run in a trunk, but I'm not to worried about that. When I do the comp's with it it'll be moved into a hatchback and that'll get some crazy numbers i'm hoping!!

my main hope is just that its pretty musical for my daily driving.

If I am running a BL now and am satisfied with it, would you say the nightshade is above that in terms of musical? or doesnt sound as good??

i love these subs although i don't own one yet. I listened to my friends and the sq of the sub really surprised me. I have an aq hdc3 which is suppose to be a daily driving spl oriented sub but it is no where near as clean as a nightshade and i think they sound horrible. My friend also had a bl and they blow those away as well as far as sq. We did a direct swap from 2 15'' fi q's to the nightshades and to be honest there wasn't a huge difference in the sq of the subs but the nightshades were way louder. So far i haven't listened to any sub that can hang with the nightshade for the price.

I'm curious as to how theyd handle a kx2500 daily...

They don't need that much power, hence the 1500-watt rating.

Two would work quite well on 2500-watts.

The "stock" Nightshade suspension is not as tight as many other "super SPL" - but this is beneficial for most people since it doesn't *need* as much power to get moving for those that don't run 2000+ watts to their drivers.

Believe me, they are loud without 2500 watts each - I have a customer doing 150.3 on music with two on an SAZ-3000D (1500 each).
