wsup with the BL

Recommended Posts

everytime i come on here i read something different about the Q that makes me wanna get one. i had my mind made up on getting a fully loaded bl 12 until today where i read a post basically saying that the BL ain't chit compared to a Q, so i need some help here's what i want btw this is going in a 99 mustang(rear seat delete not trunk) sundown saz-1500, 225 alt, 2 powermaster batts(1 under hood and 1 in trunk), 1/0 guage wiring power/ground split off into 4 guage for amps, cabin fully deadened with 2nd skin or dynamat extreme. 1st question is it seems like people get either the Q or BTL why doesn't the BL or SSD get any love? 2nd question can the Q w/bp handle 1500 watts daily(i wanna here from people that are running these things on saz-1500's or equivalent preferably people with 12's. oh and this will be in a ported enclosure, once again not for comps just daily and i listen to rap and r&b and every once in awhile "One" by metallica...so help me out fellas

a Q with BP could handle 1500, with care. more like 1250.

A BL would do it better, it wont be as musical as a Q, but it will handle that power better.

just FYI, a A.A. Havoc, would bask in that power, and sound great.... and they are made by Fi too.

I would do a Havoc, over a BL all day long...

so what you're saying is the Q can do it barely but to be on the safe side go with the BL

Keeping your gains moderate, the Q with BP option can handle the Sundown 1500 but do not be greedy by going full tilt with gains. But the BL will handle the Sundown 1500 a whole lot better than the Q will as far as power.

As he mentioned the BL, you will lose a little bit of SQ but it will handle the 1500 watts and then some without having a problem.

The Havoc is a good choice too, in my opinion...its a very similar sub. I'd probably go with the BL though.

ya he could go with the Havoc but its almost impossible to get a hold of these days...ive been looking forever. it especially doesn't help when there are no dealers located near you.

Call AA. Until there are more dealers, I think they are allowing dealers near you to sell and ship to you.

Might try that was just wondering how much the price may have changed?

Not sure why you wanted the Q in the first place, they aren't at all designed for your application. Perhaps you are reading into things from other peoples desires that aren't yours. Now is the time to be honest, if you mislead us asking for information on what to get you will end up with the wrong sub; however, it is REALLY obvious from your posts in this thread that you should buy the BL and not the Q. I am really, really curious as to why you though the Q was your solution.

i seen a post a few weeks ago where two newbs were telling one another that the Q was way better then the bl..... it was like a lame ass circle jerk of hear say and confusion. i was gonna say somthing but i figure hey the mods USED TO CHANGE PEOPLES POST WHEN SOMEONE MADE A MISLEADIN POST... but now most of them just jugde people.... what im sayin is perhaps he read that post... and steped away feeling confused and jerked.

i like my bl's.... thay throw down on anything from elvis to bonecrusher

i hear ya. i did`nt get my sub yet so i can`t really comment on the sounding part of the bl. i just think it`s hilarious when people say ``i have a q it sounds great, my friend has a bl it does`nt sound as good``. then BOOM all of a sudden something from the heavens strikes them and they make the assumption the q is better than the bl, totally ignoring factors like box size, amp used, wiring, not to mention the actual airspace in the vehicle the speaker is being used in...until some sort of scientific double blind study is made comparing these two subs (which are nothing alike), i would suggest people use fi`s product description as a guideline into which sub they should purchase for his/ her needs and not use peoples` biased opinions or crappy low-res youtube videos as a judgement call. if one subwoofer could do sq AND spl better than all the other subs, trust me fi would would just have 1 sub for sale and would save a sh*t load on material costs. not to mention they would be billionaires and everyone in the world would buy nothing but fi subs, but until that sub is made they gotta break it down into categories for us.

Thank you for saying that :)

Every reviewer is biased in some way...the trick is knowing what that reviewer is looking for and try to find good reviews from people whose listening tastes and expectations most closely match up with yours :)

Basically the situation is this, ''Q'' series are usually in a sealed box (they sound good in general) vs the bl that must be in a ported. If the ported is a quick slap together build, then the sealed will deffinately sound better. Sealed is way more forgiving to errors over ported. If the time was spent to build a ported variety around the bl, there is no reason it should sound bad. The two produce totally different sounds between them. If the sub is installed in an enclosure built to series specs, you can achieve a desired sound by the amount of airspace you put behind it.

They both will sound good if done right
