thanks m5, i have another question do people normally run rear speakers with active setups, not necessarily amplified but rear speakers wired to the hu, would this get in the way or will it not make a diiference?

Just for the rear passengers. Just keep the volume down so you can't hear it and it won't bother you.

I haven't run rear speakers in over 3 years, haven't missed them once

The rear passengers should be able to hear the front ones anyway :D

And you can't do that with the 880 it will cross over its internal amp the same way as its RCA's

All over the board on that one, more importantly though you can shut off the internal amplifier in the 880 when you use the active crossovers which is sweet. Dead heads >> amplified h/u's.
