Is budget a factor? Or space for that matter?

All things considered in general, if you want more output the pair of RL-i's will be the choice due to double the cone surface.

tryin to find a part time job to pay for vehicle upgrades so if i get one budget wont really be a factor...would 1000w be enough to power 2 icons?

1000w on a pair would be fine, but it definitely depends on your goals.

i want it to sound good but also hit u in the chest when i decide to turn it up, if that makes sense.. listen to rock/metal and will be in a sealed box

The chest will be a function of your midbasses...unless of course you turn up the frequency that your sub is playing into non-sub frequencies. Either way you will have enough power.

i want to have the best system at work...heres what im up against

2 10" planet audio with 300x2 planet audio amp.. planet audio speakers in the doors with another pa amp

2 10" sony xplodes with a 900w sony amp..stock speakers, no amp

2 10" kicker l7 with spl 1440 amp..stock speakers, no amp

2 10" pioneer with 900w sony amp...stock speakers, no amp cuz he doesnt know why the hell anyone would amp their door speakers!

besides the zx1000.1 i have pg rsd65cs comps and 125 sqft of raamaat.. also buyin a planet audio vx1502 for the comps from my buddy for cheap

80hz is a good starting point. You can adjust it to suit your listening preferences. Many people here have their subs crossed over at 63hz.

thats what i though..may be awhile b4 i get all the equipment.. shouldnt be to hard to sound better than the other systems at work

Real easy, although I would imagine they might think your subs sound best crossed at 120hz :( when in reality 50hz is even better, but of course will take a hell of a front stage to blend.

also how do u think the output of 2 rl-i10s in a custom box and a zx1000.1 would compare to 2 l7s10 in a store bought box with a spl 1440(720w rms)

for now the front stage will be pg comps powered by the pa vx1502..doors will be deadened and speakers will have mdf baffles

As the L7's have a serious cone advantage, that will be hard. Not to mention you will be driving the RL-i's near their limit.

The thing is that the RL-i 10's really should not run too much more then 500 watts. So what I was saying is that with that amp, when going full tilt it will do close to 1400 watts.

birthsheet says 1156w so at full tilt they would get 578w... gains will be set properly so they wont see that much

It will all be in the box. The Icons could take that though. :)

How much space do you have?...that would surely help recommend things.
