The driver doesn't matter.

Getting the loudest possible is all in the install and the box.

Interesting. So you could make one of these:

pyramid.jpg

as loud as one of these:

mt_thmb.jpg

?

I'm not usually a smartass. Just in that mood tonight I guess. I would just modify that to say getting the loudest possible is almost all in the install and the box/sub mating combination. As I'm sure you know different drivers like different box alignments.

I'm guessing with an amp of that nature your budget is pretty healthy? Any specific number or size you'd like?

I didn't say that a Funky pup is comparable to an MT in the correct enclosure, and to be honest you're taking that to an extreme.

I can for sure tell you, that an MT in the wrong enclosure will be no louder than a FP in the wrong enclosure.

Yes, but the RE would still get louder in a crappy enclosure than the funky pup cause it will take more power. And the excursion is much greater, so even in a bad box the RE would walk all over the pup.

Equipment does matter, just like the install and build matters

i know youre looking for an honest reply, but honestly that is such a wide question..

how much money you got to spend. how many woofers do you want to run.. and try to come up with 3 scenerios and some of us here will pick what they think is the best outta the 3. shoots.

You are gonna have to tell us the maximum external dimensions a box can take up or else we will start throwin ideas that may not fit...

Such as 10 Audioque 15" SD2.5s...

I know I was taking it to an extreme, I told you I was being a smartass. Just having some fun with it. But still, I don't know how a funky pup would ever be as loud as an MT, especially with 5000 watts. Not only would the funky pup probably blow before a db reading could even take place, but if you build such a wrong box for the MT that it's not louder, you're being as extreme a smartass as I was.

Grab something like a pair of BTL 12's and port them and let it fly. :)

Okay, put the MT in no box and the funky pup in a box tuned in a range where excursion won't kill it and play a note. In a burp at something odd high frequency or some level where the pup isn't going to have to move inches to play and it definitely has the potential to be louder than the MT playing the same note out of an enclosure. Either way this is all ridiculous.

To the OP, your question is also ridiculous as you didn't define at all what you want in a loud daily driver. For some it could be a one note wonder, otherwise may want a nice flat spectra, and even more unhelpful are the details with your question. Without defining the amount of space and budget you have your question CANNOT be answered even close. To top things off even with that information if you stink at building/designing boxes it won't be loud anyways.

sorry i didnt think yall were gonna want all that its probably gonna be about 45 or so wide in the front i meassured it out to about 32 cubic feet i'd like to keep it to 4 woofers cause cone area ans less stress on the subs.but since my truck is paid for now i might do another 5000.1 and 4 18's or something but i dont want to much cause if i get my magnum im just gonna build a coffin box and fold the back seats down.im just wondering what subs ya'll would run.i'v got a few in mind just want differnt opinions auqioque hd3 fi q's btl's

grab between two and four of the above mentioned subs (in the biggest diameter possible), build the correct box and watch your blazer crumble before yoru eyes. assuming you have beefed up the electrical side as well, or it's all for nothing.

wait for the 18" icons = D

There are no 18" Icon's. But we are working on another line that will have 18's, which include the 18 prototypes shown in the build log section.
