i have a saz 3000d during the winter it never tripped... but now.. its hot... today was 86... my car is also black.. so that dont help one bit! anyhow im going to add a fan...

jacob im gonna add a fan ... and unless you so otherwise im gonna raise it, off the floor and take the bottom pannel off.. and have the fan blowing from one side to another...

im not sure if cool air directly on the bored will mess anything up.. i have done it with other amps. but i wann check with you first

BTW, where in TX are you?

Forgot, I'm in central TX between Austin and Waco.

you could just put a fan to blow onto the heat sinks. it's what they are made for. for cooling.

i use 1" round aluminum Machined Billet with an 1/8" hole in the center so i never need the fans

well @ least till it gets up to 180 in the shade then well see

yeah yeah thats what i was talking about when i said raise the amp up... it works well for you .... is that the reason why you did it.. did you have the same problem?

I've got the amps raised up the same way as Brian and I have 2 turbo computer fans that blow extremely hard and cold air.

The amps never even get lukewarm...as long as I keep the fans on, they stay ICE cold, I love it... I don't have the bottom plates taken off though, but it does just fine the way it is..

yes i have heard you say that before Brian.. and i agree,

as stated i ran a MTX amp i had long ago the same way.. an inch off the surface with a BIG O FAN ... and it never let me down.... i still have the fan i guess my question now is..... squirl cage fan or PC type fan?

I'll imagine a PC style fan will move plenty of air for you. Get a few of the uber silent ones and build a custom amp rack utilizing them in the ends.

On top of the box like that under the trunk lid gets HOT. In my last car, a black Civic, I couldn't even touch my amp before I even turned it on when I had one mounted that way.

Blowing a fan into the side of the 3000D is a fantastic way to cool it... actually, part of the reason I made the heatsink that way... I am developing a link piece (sorry, no ETA) that will have a fan to force air through both amps on either side of the link through those fins

i allways had mine blowing onto.. i have a huge one 5 or 6 inches, its a server fan. just dust it every once and a while.

i was thinking to go cage fan style only because it looks sleeker... sleeker?

No idea yet! Probably not very expensive, I don't imagine... need to see what it takes to get a big hole cut into a short piece of heat-sink to make the link w/ fan.
