It has advantages and disadvantages. One power supply is all you would have to power and it would be one unit to hide. On the other hand if it goes out you loose everything. Not only that but subs can pull much more juick from the amp than components and could cause power fluxuations in the board and that is not good for SQ.

other than the size of the amp it is ok---I could think of a few other amps I would rather see you start with though.

http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html the Alpine MRV-F450 has alot better control and can be had for about the same price. The active crossover network works great in the MRV-F450 also--yes it is only 12Dbs but for a 5 channel anything else is gonna cost you more.

or another good amp http://www.arcaudio.com/arc/navigation/kar...ar4004prodp.htm this is a 4 channel but it is a GREAT "Starter amp"

if you have alittle bit more money try the http://www.arcaudio.com/arc/navigation/cxl...xl5150prodp.htm it is a 5 channel Arc Amp and it is the top dog in 5 channels if you ask me---the best part is that you don't need a huge output of voltage from the HU to get the most from it---it maxs out @ 2.5volts(most aftermarket HU have 4 volt now a days)

Then we have the personal favorite 5 channel http://incolor.inebraska.com/weisinator/co...s/pg-qx5005.htm

the QX5005 from Phoenix Gold(got to love em)---for the $ i doubt you will find anything better.

but these are a few of my favs and out of those----I persoanlly would take the PG or the Arc Audio CXL5150.

Hope this helps,
